Craig Lora is a traditional detached cottage on the banks of one of Scotland’s great rivers – the River Orchy. On a quiet single track road, Craig Lora is away from the bustle of the outside world. Yet it is easily reached by road or rail, being only half a mile from Dalmally Station. Up to 2 dogs are welcome. The surrounding countryside is stunningly beautiful. Located in the heart of the West Highlands, Craig Lora offers the visitor a peaceful escape as well as the opportunity to enjoy diverse wildlife and outdoor pursuits, including fishing, walking, climbing, watersports, golf, deer stalking and more. The garden at Craig Lora is fully-enclosed, with mature trees, a sloping grassy area and a raised patio where you can sit and enjoy the sunny south-facing aspect to the River Orchy. There is a large, secure shed with bicycles for guests use and space to store your own cycles or other equipment. A gate at the bottom of the garden leads on to the river bank. Red squirrels regularly visit the garden, along with an abundance of birds. Otters can occasionally be seen on the river. Permits to fish the river can be purchased locally. The cosy living room has leather sofas to lounge on and a log burning stove to keep the cold away. The TV has Freeview and Freesat channels and there is a DVD player that can also be used to watch BBC iplayer. You will love our multi-room Sonos sound system, which can be used to stream from Spotify, or your own wireless device. The kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you need to feel at home. There is an electric cooker, refrigerator, microwave, toaster and dishwasher. The breakfast bar provides seating for four and you can use the Sonos speaker to listen to your favourite music while cooking or dining. Even washing-up is a pleasure thanks to the wonderful view to the river from the window above the sink! Just off the kitchen is a laundry cupboard with a washing machine and a tumble dryer. The peace and quiet at Craig Lora will help ensure you have a good night’s sleep. Upstairs you will find two simple but comfortable bedrooms (one double, one twin), with duvets and plenty of blankets to make sure you stay snug whatever the weather. The bathroom is also upstairs and has a shower over a full-sized bath, wash-hand basin, heated towel rail and WC.More

About the neighbourhood
Mountains, glens, lochs and the west coast are all within easy reach of Craig Lora. The cottage is within striking distance of some fantastic mountain walking. The imposing Ben Cruachan range overlooks the cottage. Just to the east is one of the Highland’s finest peaks, Ben Lui. To the north is Glencoe, offering some of the finest mountaineering expeditions in the UK, especially in winter conditions. The River Orchy is one of the most picturesque rivers in the country. Loch Awe is beautiful; far away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and undeveloped with no noisy watersports to shatter the peace. The coastline of Argyll and Lochaber is spectacular. Head for Oban to catch a ferry for a day trip to Mull or the Inner Hebrides.
Getting around
A car is highly recommended for getting around the area. However, it is possible to arrive in Dalmally by train or bus and walk to the cottage
