Caroline smoothly manages the tricky concept of being available to help, but not intrusive...and she's...More

About the neighbourhood
There is a wealth of sites to see around The Summerhouse. Cathedral cities of Wells, Bath and Bristol. The stunning gorges of Cheddar and Ebbor and Burrington Combe. The historic Somerset Levels teaming with wildlife and noted for the autumn/winter starling murmurations. There are also a number of renowned National Trust properties nearby, including the wonderful landscaped garden of Stourhead and many picturesque villages like Wedmore, Mells and Nunney. It is an area known for its art and crafts, highlighted during the autumn Somerset Art Weeks and known too for its cider and cheese!
Getting around
A car is recommended. There is a local bus service to Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet - but it is infrequent - maybe not an issue if you are happy (as some guests have been) to take time travelling and by circuitous routes. Taxis are available but of course not cheap. The nearest train station is Castle Cary, a 20 minute drive.
