On the second floor, there are 3 bedrooms, one double with en-suite shower / WC, a second double and one single bedroom. The 2 double bedrooms are fitted with air-conditioning units. The main bathroom is spacious and has a roll-top bath, washbasin and WC. In the basement of the house, adjacent to the attractive courtyard , there is a laundry room fitted with a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board and a sink. There is also a separate WC. For guests with a young child there is a travel cot and high chair. Also a playpen, stairgate, fireguard, childproof bowls and cutlery. Bed linen, towels, cleaning costs, Wi-Fi and electricity are included in the rent. In the colder months a basket of wood is provided for the stove. Supplementary wood is available, at the client's cost, at a wood yard close by. Unloading from the car is possible outside the house. There is parking space in the small (free) carpark 50 yds from the house. Finestret is a small picturesque medieval village with 180 permanent inhabitants lying between the Mediterranean coast and the ski slopes at Font Romeau and Les Angles. It nestles under the high mountain peak of Canigou, in beautiful countryside with abundant paths and tracks for walkers. In summer the plunge pools in the river at Finestret are a popular way of cooling off whilst the little town of Vinca, 4km away has a beach and a lake for swimming. Here there are shops, restaurants and a bank. Prades is a vibrant market town 10 kms from Finestret. It has a busy market (on Tuesday mornings,) several restaurants, supermarkets, a hospital and a tourist office. Prades also hosts the Pablo Casals Music Festival every August. There are no shops in Finestret so a car is necessary, although there is a visiting baker’s van which calls every morning with fresh bread. More

About the neighbourhood
There are dramatic gorges, thermal baths, ancient abbeys and ruined Cathar castles all close by.Further afield, but easily accessible for a day trip, is the historic town of Carcassonne, with its fairy tale turrets and, on the coast, the pretty town of Colliure, famous for its fresh anchovies. Perpignan has a fine historic centre and in the summer months evening street entertainment attracts large crowds. There are no shops in Finestret so a car is necessary, although there is a visiting baker’s van which calls every morning with fresh bread.
