Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

The most amazing experience
We stayed at the purepod for our honeymoon and this spot will certainly be a stay we will remember forever. Every element of the pod was so thoughtfully planned out so that all we had to do was focus on the natural beauty surrounding us. Waking up to a sunrise with sheep outside, spending the day hiking the trails around the pod, and ending such a peaceful escape with the gourmet and local food the pod provided for a sunset dinner made for a truly perfect day. This is a special place and we could not recommend it more highly!

A+++ Experience
Really impressed with this experience.
Great location, close to Christchurch; only an hours drive but feels like a holiday still.
The pod is amazing and well equipped, everything is well thought out.
Oh my gosh the food! Absolutely delicious and so well prepared, our stay would not have been the same without it.

Chasing stars - completely transparent
Daniel and I had a wonderful stay at Purepods, after 2 weeks of being on the road in a campervan, this stay was a beautiful treat. We were so pleased with the detailed instructions, the scenic path up to the place and then the bountiful platter for 2 (which was a lot of food even for the two of us) but all freshly sourced. What drove us here is the disconnection, tranquility and being in nature. We unfortunately had a cloudy night so as long as you know you can't control that you will be fine haha. The experience really was one in a million, unforgettable and a nice end to the trip. I would love to have a small place of my own like this in the future :D.

Best night ever!!!!
It is something that you have to experience once in your life. Staying in nowhere, but still in comfort and warm of the roof. The view was amazing!! And it is the best stay during my trip.

BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!
Stephanie and her super capable team were excellent in many ways! First, in setting up the beautiful purepods! Second, providing excellent service (Stephanie personally gave us recommendations on where to stop at from our journey from Christchurch, which were super helpful for our trip). Third, following up on feedback so quickly!
The experience at the purepod was an unforgettable one! The best that we could ever ask for. It was so romantic under the starry skies, just being isolated from everyone and everywhere. Much needed in this overly-connected world. It was great that the location was unplugged (without any wifi or phone signals) so that we can focus on spending quality time with each other (rather than on social media!) and with nature.
I would highly recommend the purepod to all! Especially couples on their honeymoon! :)

Absolute seclusion and perfect eco luxury
We stayed two nights at the Pohue Purepod in May. From the moment of entering the property we knew our stay would be special. The walk into the pod is exquisite with breath taking scenery with the only onlookers being the sheep. The pod has absolutely everything you need and lying in bed at night watching the stars and satellites is amazing. We were blessed with a magnificent sunrise on both mornings and it was quite an experience to wake to sheep quietly munching grass just outside the pod. Our second night we had heavy rain for a while which sounded fantastic on the glass roof. The rain soon cleared to reveal a spectacular starry display once again. The complete silence and seclusion made the pod deck the perfect location for a relaxing morning yoga session. The meal pack was divine (even with my coeliac needs) and the bed was extremely comfortable. We left with a feeling of sadness wishing we could stay much longer. A definite 6 star location!

Stunningly unique
So impressed with the PurePod concept! I thought the the novelty of staying in an isolated, eco-friendly glass box might have worn thin after the first half an hour which involved a sweatier-than-expected walk in (a very warm afternoon, some steep terrain and a generous amount of sheep poo on the track) but once we got there, all was forgiven. WOW - such a cleverly thought out, technologically innovative and sturdily constructed pod. It's like a high spec tiny house, only way cooler (glass floors!!). Immaculately clean, has useful insect screens, perfect shower amenities, a cute Weber BBQ and well kitted out kitchen... plus that view. Stunning.
Nestled below some charmingly scruffy old trees (macrocarpa?), the pod has a commanding view of Port Levy and the surrounding hills, and we found the tussock grass in the foreground was just as mesmerising to look at - as were the wee lambs as they bounced among it, trailing after their mothers.
We heard no 'human' noise of any kind (except for the occasionally necessary water pump type sounds etc), instead we got loads of chaffinches, goldfinches, yellowhammers, swallows and sparrows darting around, as well some nesting magpies and of course the lambs calling for their mums and vice versa.
We ordered a hamper when we booked and were glad we did - it means you only have to schlep in a bottle of wine to go with it :). Bonus, we had no trouble making the goodies stretch over the two nights we stayed at Pohue, so that was ideal. The weather for our stay was perfect, so we felt very lucky. Be brave and don't use the roller blinds: the bright moonlight and morning sunlight have their own magic.
Pohue PurePod was adventurous, romantic and we felt like we'd made an environmentally responsible choice. The instructions you get before you arrive are excellent - clear and comprehensive. There are a few more rules to respect than you might have at more ordinary accommodation but that was part of the fun for us. Do read the booklet provided in the pod as it has loads more interesting info about how to make the most of your stay.

Cool concept
We found PurePods by researching unique accommodations in New Zealand. The concept is great. Glass walls, floor and ceiling are really cool. The Pohue PurePod was definitely on point for anticipating our needs. We were surprised and a bit disappointed when we first saw it though since there are not many photos of it online yet. We were thinking it would be in an open area and it was actually tucked under a grove of trees in a dug out spot. The instructions sent to guests need to be updated for accessing the pod from a 10 min flat walk to a 45 min hike up a steep incline across rough terrain and over two fences with your packs and supplies. The sunrise and stars were phenomenal and the birds and sheep are a wonderful background chorus. The food delivered to the PurePod was good. I wish there had been a little more info on what was in each container or labels so we knew what to combine. The shower is pretty epic. They need to put in a little more water protection for the shower area to prevent water damage. There is no internet connection or reception at all there but they have a phone on the side of the building in case of emergency. Sunrise and Stars were really cool.

Pefect Isolation, Beautiful Scenery, and Luxury Accomodation! Nothing Better!!!
We could not have chosen a better place to spend our 25th anniversary. The secluded location, amazing hiking, and beautiful scenery can not be beaten. Whether you're walking the grounds or gazing at the stars, you'll love every second of your relaxing stay. We can't say enough good things about Pohue PurePod. We will definitely be staying here again!! Thank you Ruth.

If you are staying for a couple of nights, then perhaps head across to Akaroa to swim with the dolphins or go sea kayaking before returning to the PurePod in the afternoon to relax and take in the views.
