How to get there
Airport: Chania: 48.0 km
Ferry: Souda: 35.0 km
By Air

Chania Airport - 40 minute drive
Heraklion Airport - 1 hour 30 minute drive (note Heraklion is sometimes spelt Iraklion. In fact many Greek names have several translated spellings. Hania = Chania etc.).

Charter flights from Europe are quite numerous from April until the end of October. There are a lot more flights to Heraklion than to Chania, making them often cheaper (and not as heavily booked) than flights to Chania. Charter flights get cheaper as the departure date approaches however you do run the risk of not getting the flight you want, or in peek season any flight at all.

Easy Jet fly direct from Gatwick and Manchester to Heraklion.

Almost all scheduled international flights transit through Athens where you then take a scheduled domestic flight to either Chania or Heraklio...
