Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Amazing spot for a relaxing weekend get away
We loved our stay in the B&B. The location amongst the vines and being right on the Waipara wine trail couldn't have been better. It was also great being on site for lunch in the restaurant. The room had a quality feel to it with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast provided was excellent and catered for gluten free. The fridge was also stocked with a great range of wine and beer. Highly recommend if you are looking to unwind in a beautiful and relaxing setting.

Its Nice BUT
Lovely quite location. Would be gratefully improved by attention to some minor matters, wine tasting could have been at any time of day, not given any options but to have it when we arrived. Coffee plunger in room a laugh, only for one cup, told to put double the amount in and divide between two cups and then top up with water. No TV, not informed about dinner options at other wineries. Considering price an average place.

Delightful warm and friendly
From the time we arrived we where made to feel welcome and offered a wine tasting. Well the wine is another story just divine and the two people talking us through the different wines really knew their stuff. The room we were staying in was warm and cosy (hedge out the front needs a trim so you can lay on the bed and see more of the view). Food was amazing for dinner and lunch. the restaurant, what an amazing view and setting was excellent and they put on a magnificent day for us. Many thanks your staff are an asset to you. .

Sweet Solitude!!!
The three night stay at Black Estate was the perfect tonic for my wife and I. A beautifully appointed studio room with all of the creature-comforts we needed and views that stretched to the snowy southern alps. Spent two evenings just staring out across the vineyard and Waipara Valley with a glass (or three) of the Estate's classy Pinot. Could not get over how quiet the place was! Staff could not have been more helpful and even arranged a few private tastings for us at other vineyards normally closed to the public. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay! Thanks Pen and co...

Truely magical
Absolutely beautiful from start to finish. The vineyard is beautiful, the room was perfect, and the staff were amazing. The perfect romantic getaway with a gorgeous sunset to top it all off. Brie was fantastic to correspond with, and went above and beyond to accommodate our food allergies. And of course the wine is incredible. Cannot recommend more highly.

Wonderful Stay at Black Rstate
We highly recommend the BnB at Black Estate Winery. It is a very quiet, peaceful place to stay surrounded by the vineyards. At the end of the day, all is quiet as there is only one apartment on the property. You can wander through the rows of vines, relax outside with a bottle of wine, and wait for the stars to come out. The staff here could not have been nicer during our stay!

Amazing weekend getaway for couples
Where to begin... from the time we arrived everything was perfect. Brie and the team had prepared the ultimate romantic getaway for a wine loving couple. The cheese board set the scene, and the wine was out of this world. Dinner had been ordered and was waiting for us when we arrived - delicious. The views were breathtaking and the room has everything we wanted. Highly recommended - this is one place I'm definitely going back to.

Landed in Paradise! 🍇 🍷😌
Great place to get away from the busy and touristic cities and accommodations. The host that welcomed us, Brie was great and very friendly. She waited for us past the closing time and did a great wine tasting for us. Communication with her was smooth and we got prompt replies. The location is beautiful overlooking the vineyards with beautiful sunset. The room was very confy, cosy, cute and clean with nice breakfast with local products. Highly recommend!

Wonderful Vineyard Stay
Had a lovely stay at Black Estate after a great Friday evening in the restaurant. The room is lovely, very comfortable and well appointed and in a wonderful setting. A very nice breakfast of muesli, yoghurt, fresh-baked breads, spreads and fruit, as well as tea and coffee was provided and it was great to sit outside in the morning, take in the view and have tea, coffee and breakfast. A beautiful spot and highly recommended. If you can tie it in with Black Estate's summer Friday Night Sessions, it will be a perfect night away :)

Fabulous in every way
What more could you ask for ?! A gorgeous room , spotlessly clean , modern decor , beautiful ensuite ,a wonderful elevated location surrounded by vines and amazing views with the cellar door above you, absolute heaven. Breakfast is left in your room , muesli, fresh bread , preserves , yoghurt, fresh milk and fresh coffee, plentiful supply of really good toileteries , the room is huge and so warm , great sleep quality. Great communication and the warmest of welcomes from Brie . This is a truly unique experience and a very special place . We did wine tasting at 10am as the cellar door opened. Wished we had of had the time to eat in the restaurant as it looked wonderful too. Thanks for everything
