For us, one of Gaiole’s greatest attractions is just to slow down and enjoy the place of village life, but for those of you who just have to stay active, here are a few notes on fourteen things which we never tire of doing, and that still excludes an epic day trip to Venice!. We booked this apartment to be the end of our 3 and a half month British and European holiday. After self-driving, coach tour and cruise we were looking forward to this being a nice place to take time out before returning home to New Zealand....More

There are over 100 wine producers in Gaiole commune alone forming the backbone of the local economy, ranging from the renowned Castello dAma and Castello di Brolio through to many small family vineyards.

A car is recommended, as local bus services are limited. There are daily buses into Siena, and it is possible to reach Florence by bus via a change.

Our nearest mainline station is Montevarchi, and our most adventurous guests have managed a 'day trip' to Venice!
