Holiday Rental House
Hi! We travel often for work and usually stay in other Airbnb rentals around the world. From these experiences, we bought and renovated the Farmhouse as a full-time vacation rental with all the little details we expect (and are often missing in other places). Basically, we created our dream Airbnb vacation stay. We are Airbnb SuperHosts and hope you'll read through our 5-star reviews to be confident in your booking. The Shenandoah Valley is our home and we love to share the undiscovered pleasures of the area. We have Mountain Ranges on either side of the Valley with a gorgeous River running through it. Our nightly price covers accommodation of up to six guests. Kids are always welcome, and we're very pet friendly (with prior approval). Just let us know who you're bringing. House: We ha...Hi! House: We have lovingly rehabbed this 1850s solid brick farmhouse and turned it into a modern home. The house is on a secluded 2 acres with plenty of trees and views. The remodeled farmhouse has been updated with all conveniences, including central AC, heat and high speed WiFi. This is not a rustic cabin, but some seriously awesome luxury. A great way to enjoy the outdoors. If you have any special needs, just ask. We live just ten minutes away. Bedrooms: The Farmhouse can sleep up to six people, but also perfect for a couple who want a quiet getaway. There are two bedrooms. The master suite has a king size bed with new pillow top mattress and flat screen TV. The guest bedroom has a twin convertible trundle bed (converts to a King) that comfortably sleeps two with storage. There's also a separate Writers Cabin with a queen bed that sleeps two, work desk, flat screen TV w/ Netflix, wifi, and A/C + Heat (need to use the house bathroom). We gladly provide all bed linens and pillows. Bathrooms: We have a full bath upstairs with an Americast soaking tub. Downstairs, there's a half bath powder room with washer/dryer. We provide soap, shampoo, towels, and washing detergent. Living room: We like to spread out on two couches and mid century recliner. There are plenty of board games, playing cards, novels, kids books and backlogs of magazines to read. Or hook your iPod up to the speakers and play music on the stereo. Kitchen: The kitchen is fully equipped with an eight person farm table and antique soapstone sink. You’ll have everything you need to cook a holiday meal, or just make coffee + toast and use the microwave for simple reheating. If you need anything we don’t have, we'll do our very best to accommodate. We provide a lot of 'starter stuff' so guests don't have to over-buy for short stays (creamer, sugar, honey, coffee, condiments, cooking oil, charcoal, bug repellent, etc). Entertainment: The house and yard have high speed WiFi access. Lounge inside to check your email, or wander outside to research bugs and birds on Wikipedia. Both flat screens are hooked up to Apple TVs. You can watch unlimited shows and movies on our Netflix account, or sign in to any of your accounts to watch what you want (NFL, NHL, HBO, MLB, iTunes, Hulu, etc). BBQ: We custom designed this brick outdoor BBQ to double as a grill and fireplace. We love to have a meal on the Adirondack chairs while looking out over the hills and the friendly herd of cows next door. Sometimes the cows even come up to the fence to say hello. We always leave you with some starter charcoal, BBQ tools, and plenty of firewood. Night time star gazing: The BBQ grill then becomes a firepit so you can sit, watch the stars, and listen to the night sounds. Because our nearest neighbor is a quarter mile away, this is one if the best areas in Luray to see the Milky Way without light pollution. Outdoor Space: There are two acres of land so you’ll have plenty of room to play a game of soccer, toss the frisbee or play other games from our equipment box. Read a book at at any of our three shaded picnic tables. Explore the stream running along the property when the rain has come. Hang out in the hammock and watch the sun go down over the hill. There is also a covered area to park motorcycles. Neighborhood Lake: Lake Arrowhead is just a short walk down our quiet gravel road. Maintained by the town of Luray, you can pay a small fee to rent canoes, paddle boats, or enjoy the beach area with a lifeguard. If you have your own boat, you're welcome to put in (but no motors since this is the town's reservoir). There's also a trail that winds around the lake for a great hike. Luray Caverns: The Caverns are world famous since they were discovered over a century ago. The family who runs the Caverns have done a great job creating an inspiring, tasteful experience. It's a perfect place for an afternoon trip underground. There also plenty of other activities for kids like the giant maze and jungle gym. The Pioneer museum showcases demonstrations on how the first settlers in the area lived. Shenandoah National Park: We're only five miles from the entrance to the Shenandoah National Park. We buy a day or week pass into the park to drive the 110-mile Skyline Drive. Or choose from the approximately 100 day hikes (of varying difficulty) that show off the Park's many waterfalls and vistas. We have booklets describing all the hikes. If you want to get 5 feet away from a deer, you'll be able to. Sometimes it's fun to eat at Skyland on top of the mountain where you can see the all of Page County below. Shenandoah River Outfitters: A short drive across Luray will bring you to the river outfitters where you can rent a canoe, kayak or tube for hanging out on the Shenandoah River. A must-do activity when the weather is nice. You'll never forget the times you spend on the river. If you have your own boat, you can use a number of public boat landings. Valley Health Fitness Center Gym- A quick 5 min drive to East Luray Shopping Center, the gym is a great place for a workout. $5 for a day pass will allow you to work out on all the machines, treadmills and use free and fixed weights. We love it there! Small Town USA Luray is a quintessential small American town with a number of restaurants from fancy dining to burger joints. There's also a coffee shop w/ wifi and the Main Street bakery making fresh goodies (ask for Chuck!) Every Saturday morning from May-September, there's a great Farmer's market in town to pick up local produce and meat from area farms. The indoor Willow Grove Farm Market sells locally produced food all year long. Several pizza places deliver to the farmhouse. For quick needs, there's Fairview Grocery just five minutes from the Farmhouse that has sandwiches, beer, wine, snacks, and homemade donuts (only on Saturdays, they are amazing). Treasure hunt at the antique stores, or grab outdoor gear at the outfitters. The 6-screen movie theater, a true local treasure, is open for matinee and evening screenings. Uncle Bucks is the sports bar where locals enjoy the game (stays open till 1am every night). Several groceries stores and Walmart will provide you with everything you need. There's also the Wisteria winery that's open most days to enjoy a local wine tasting. The Luray Zoo is on the edge of town and famous for rescuing exotic animals. Perfect for kids who want to safely get close to animals (like goats!). A newly renovated hospital w/ a 24-hour emergency room is just 10 minutes away. We provide a binder with maps of everything close by and are just a text away if you have questions.

Sweetest hideaway ever.
My husband and I have stayed here for all three of our Shenandoah trips. This house has definitely been a source of some really good memories. It’s one of our favorite places to escape to. Very thankful for the owners opening up their beautiful home for guests! ❤️

Lovely farmhouse
Well set up remodeled farmhouse with a small guesthouse. Neighboring cows are close by. Rustic kitchen was well equipped. Cozy with comfortable furnishings. Outdoor spaces included a barbecue/fireplace, hammocks and lots of seating. Great for a family with room to run or play sports. We spent our days touring Shenandoah National Park, an easy drive with great hiking and photo ops.

Beyond Perfection
The house is nicely updated and modernized; pictures shown are accurate. Ryan and Jay thought of literally everything - binoculars, birding books, flashlights, Q-tips, makeup remover wipes, sensitive skin detergent (which I appreciated being allergic to Tide and the like), first aid kits, OFF, books, books, books, games, and the list is endless! Check-in was easy - they meet you at the house for a tour and instructions. The WiFi works great. There is no cell service, but there is a VOIP landline, if needed. This house is minutes from Luray proper, Shenandoah Park, Lake Arrowhead, and other attractions. This was one of the best (if not THE best) stay I have ever had anywhere! Do not hesitate to book the Modern Farmhouse!

Perfect Farmhouse getaway
Jay and Ryanne have remodeled an 1850s era farm house with all the modern conveniences that still retains its old-world charm. The pictures really don't do the property justice. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to do our own cooking (we brought all the ingredients for our meals). The master bedroom was huge with a big comfy bed and a TV with access to Apple TV and Netflix. I wish we'd had more than 5 days there because the house was also stocked with a bunch of books I'd like to read or re-read. The yard was huge and our dog Justin loved just lounging on the grass or playing fetch. You're only 5 miles from downtown Luray and plenty of restaurants and shops or 8 miles from the Shenandoah Valley National Park Thornton Gap entrance. We went every day and did some great hikes. Many thanks again to Jay and Ryanne for providing us with a wonderful place to spend 5 very tranquil days. We'll be back for sure!

Cutest Farm
This was perfect! Everything was in great condition and Jay really thought of everything you could possibly need for a weekend away! We really appreciated all the small touches like corn hole, tennis balls for the dogs, firewood and sticks next to the fire pit and so much more. I will definitely be coming back in the spring. Even though its winter I can tell they have a beautiful garden.

Beautiful and charming retreat!
My daughter was married in Luray at the wonderful Khimaira Farm. Families rented cabins in the area and our family stayed in this amazing 1850s farmhouse. By far, it was the best of the bunch and it far exceeded our expectations. The owners have provided everything you may need from condiments and spices (and s'more supplies) in the kitchen to books, games and outdoor toys for the kids. The bathrooms are fully supplied with toiletries and there is a wash machine. A nice touch is that there is a free landline as we were out of cell phone range. In addition there are TVs with Netflix and Apple TV and speakers to hook up your music. The combination of old and modern was done very well. The writer's cabin was homey and has a beautiful view out of a large window. Due to the nature of our visit, we were basically just there for sleeping so we were unable to use the outdoor fireplace, but we did enjoy the amazing flowers and landscaping. Our only regret is that we were unable to really enjoy all the amenities because of the wedding (which was wonderful, too!) Even my teenage son suggested we come back when we can have a more leisurely visit. It you can afford it, a stay at this farmhouse is well worth the money!

Staying at this beautiful farmhouse was delightful!
Staying at Ryanne and Jay's beautiful farmhouse was delightful! Our outdoor activities were somewhat curtailed by lots of snow, but the house is so comfortable and stylish, we didn't mind staying in. Every room is thoughtfully curated and blends the charm of an antique farmhouse with modern conveniences and mid-century decor. As a former antique dealer, I loved looking at all the little touches they have incorporated into this house. There are European tiles and old brass faucets....and a spectacular soapstone kitchen sink. The grounds looked amazing, even covered in snow....we can't wait to come back and see all the perennial gardens in bloom. Ryanne and Jay were friendly and helpful, giving us lots of information so that we could explore the area, even with our limited time. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone....and it would be great for a family gathering.

Live the modern comfort in a country setting!
If you’re looking for a fun getaway just a short drive from Washington, DC (or Charlottesville) at the foot of the Shenandoah, we highly recommend renting this beautiful home. It’s not only close to the park entrance to go hiking in the Shenandoah, but it’s also minutes from Luray Caverns and Shenandoah River spots where you can go canoeing or kayaking. Imagine having a country getaway but with all the modern conveniences of home! We really enjoyed our stay at Jay and Ryanne’s beautifully restored farmhouse. We spent four nights relaxing, cooking, and watching movies during a snowstorm. The house has nice fast wi-fi throughout, and the master bedroom’s large flatscreen is equipped with Apple TV and a Netflix account. But if you like reading, there’s tons of fun fiction, non-fiction, magazines and children’s books to enjoy, too. You could curl up under a large window in the second bedroom, luxuriate in the super comfy master bedroom’s King bed or find plenty of nooks downstairs or on the porch. And the main bathroom is equipped with a lovely, deep tub -- perfect for soaking after a long hike. The house stayed warm and dry during the all day snowstorm, as did the small cottage which is set up as a separate suite with bed and TV and a full wall window with a great view of the nearby mountains. It’s evident that transforming this farmhouse was a labor of love. It’s very tastefully decorated, featuring recessed lighting, hardwood floors and many windows to let in natural light. We cooked delicious meals in their well-equipped kitchen and enjoyed them around the big wooden table while watching the snow fall. When the next day became warm and sunny, we soaked up the rays lounging in the Adirondack chairs that line the back porch and daydreamed about returning in the late spring or summer with a group of friends for a big picnic around the outdoor brick grill. (Or even to sleep under the stars when the weather is warmer.) J ay and Ryanne were responsive and gracious hosts, and pointed out the area’s attractions. They even arranged to have the drive plowed when it snowed. We can’t wait to return to this lovely Virginia farmhouse!
