Interaction with guests:Â We live in the main house upstairs, so are available at a moment's notice if guests need anything, but we also give our guests plenty of space and privacy. If we're around when guests arrive, generally meet and greet upon arrival to give them a quick 'lay of the land,' then leave them to their own devices unless they need anything. Happy to interact as much or as little as guests wish.

Myself and wife spent a very enjoyable week in this accommodation.
The positives were:
Large bedroom.
Well kitted out kitchen.
Great shower and bathroom.
Short walk to street car.
Access to pool.
Relaxing outside area.
Street parking available.
The area felt very safe.
Owner was very friendly and helpful.
The negatives were:
The accommodation was not as photo but a semi basement flat at the rear.
External access was on timber planks which were not wide enough for suitcases.
There were cupboards in the bedroom but had owners storage boxes inside and there were no shelves for clothes.
Bed sheets were very worn.
Limited lounge area.
Overall:
This is very suitable for a holiday but could be so much better if the access was paved and the bedroom cupboards shelved.

Thanks for the review, Richard, and the feedback. I'm a bit perplexed that you were surprised at the accommodations - the listing is very clear that it is a garden apartment, and that we live upstairs. I'm sorry if there was any confusion about that.
We will be paving the area along the side of the house (there is already a brick patio outside the apartment, it's just a small stretch that is unpaved), and the boards were only there because there had been a lot of recent rain. We will also be getting a dresser for the bedroom - we've been looking, but it's proven a bit of a challenge finding one the right size. And finally, we have brand new bedsheets - we replace all of the linens regularly, so I apologize you caught these at the end of their cycle.

A clean and well equipped apartment in an excellent location
The location is quiet residential but just minutes away from the streetcar which carries you in traditional style through impressive neighbourhoods and university grounds all the way to Bourbon Street, the historic centre of New Orleans. The apartment is clean and well equipped and the owner provides lots of information to cover all needs. We were invited to use the facilities in the yard ( we did not use the pool but we enjoyed sitting in the sunshine eating satsumas straight off the trees!).

Wonderful owners and excellent location.
Spent a week here last September. So much better than staying in a hotel in the tourist districts. Lovely property, very convenient to the street cars and buses., Lots of restaurants in the area, We loved the French bistro right up the block, Le Madeleine I think? Everything is brand new in the apartment, so well stocked, but if there is something you need, just let Sasha know and he'll take care of it. The guide they prepared for their guests is about the most thorough one I've seen. Where to shop, eat and play and how to get where you're going either walking, driving or using mass transit.
And we enjoyed chatting with Sasha and his wife and getting additional local tips on the area..
Lovely people and a wonderful place to stay

This a a very good place to stay.
If you are new to New Orleans and not quite sure where to book in the city then I would strongly suggest this place. On the map it appears that it is far away from the French Quarter and other downtown attractions but that is not the case. The St. Charles trolley is a block away which can takes you to downtown NOLA in a great way. ( Chances are your gonna be drinking. Take the trolley!) The surrounding neighborhood is charming and its real easy to get to route 10 from Short st. (Turn right onto Carrolton Ave and you will be on Rte. 10 in minutes. The apartment is furnished nicely and is perfect for a couple or a family with no more than two children/young adults. The bottom line is that I will be renting this place again. We dropped off our daughter at Loyola and this will be our place to rent when we come and visit. Sascha and Marianne are great landlords as well. Thumbs UP!

About the neighbourhood
Our house is in a historic Uptown neighborhood called the 'Black Pearl,' just one block off the St. Charles streetcar line. The location offers easy access to all parts of the city - from the French Quarter to City Park and more! There are two great eating and shopping areas within a short walk from our house - on Maple St. and Oak St.
Getting around
We are half a block from a streetcar stop, which provides direct access to the French Quarter and downtown. So a car is by no means necessary, but it can be nice to have one to explore farther afield. Parking is very easy on our street (one almost always finds a spot right in front of the house), with no permit required.
