Continental breakfast is available, with coffee/tea bar and refrigerator just down the hall. Private entry, and in-room safe available for all guests. Feel free to ask for our cozy flannel sheets, when visiting us in winter! While staying at the 1899 House, guests can have as much privacy or interaction with their hosts as desired. This home is within walking distance to downtown to the east (1 mile), and Browne's Addition's historic Cannon Circle restaurants, pub, pizzeria, and Tully's, to the west (3 blocks); only a few short blocks' walk from Coeur d'Alene Park's gazebo concerts in summer the Museum of Arts and Culture, and rests in the midst of countless admirable views for the jogger or cyclist (Centennial Trail, Overlook Park). City transit bus is one block from the home, and if you are coming to Spokane for medical reasons, or for support for a loved one, it is located approximately one mile from Spokane's 'hospital hill' Deaconess and Sacred Heart hospitals. If you are considering a sabbatical, conference, graduation, or other education-related visit, 1899 House is only two miles west of Gonzaga University, WSU Spokane; four miles south of Spokane Falls CC/Mukogawa Center, and nine miles south of Whitworth University. Spokane International Airport is a ten-minute drive, and Fairchild Air Force Base lies a twenty-minute drive north. This original family home, built for the third mayor of Spokane, offers a charming combination of gracious family home within an historic setting, with in-residence owner/proprietors, and the privacy of one's own room and bath, with easy access to the small conveniences of home and personal privacy. It is 'homey' yet elegant, comfortable, yet personal to each guest, and presents a unique opportunity to feel 'at home' while far from one's own. = = = = = = = = = = Reservations are required and can be secured for late arrival with Visa or MasterCard, or PayPal. Guests may check in any time after 3:00 p.m., seven days a week, with check-out time at noon. While a resident within the 1899 House, guests may not smoke in the house. Doing so will immediately forfeit the room, and the rental fees. There are no facilities to support guest animals; one house cat mascot resides in the home's common areas. Since there is a private guest entry available, there are no 'in hours' for guests, but courtesy is expected with noise levels, especially before 0800 and after 2200, and guests are responsible for their own visitors, should they bring them here. About the neighbourhood
This home is within walking distance to downtown Spokane (for Hoopfest, for instance) to the east (.8 mile), and Browne's Addition's historic Cannon Circle restaurants, pub, pizzeria, and Tully's, to the west (3 blocks); only a few short blocks' walk from Coeur d'Alene Park's gazebo, Elkfest and Artfest, and free concerts in summer, the Museum of Arts and Culture, and rests in the midst of countless admirable views for the jogger or cyclist (Centennial Trail, Overlook Park). Our home is ideal for runners in both the Susan B. Komen and Bloomsday races, both of which run right by the house! The neighborhood is extremely safe and walker/runner friendly. Situated on a corner, there is good parking. City transit bus lines run one block south and half a block north of the 1899 House, and if...
How to get there
A car may be necessary to get here from the airport, depending on time of arrival. However, there is a Spokane Transit bus service from the airport to within one block of the house, debarking at Pacific Avenue and Oak Street
