About the neighbourhood
Your right on the beach and can walk either direction. Going South you will can stop at an outdoor shopping center Whalers Maĺl, with restaurants, or going North a great grocery store, Times.
At the strip mall found a fabulious Greek fast food restaurant. Next to it a Gelato place for an awesome dessert.
We love going to the Lahaina town to wander through the shops and visit the famous Banyon tree. My father stood under this very tree in 1945.
The resort will provide maps and help get you doing what you want weather it's snorkeling, fishing, golfing, hiking, eating, culture classes, shopping or just relaxing.
The resort has a free shuttle taking you to the town of Lahaina and picking you up. Bus runs every hour. Every 20 min the shuttle goes to each of the properties. This is the one to take if you want to go to Whalers Mall. We love walking along beach one way then taking the bus the other way.
If you explore the island a car is the best way. If you plan to hang around the resort you don't have to have one. There is plenty to do right at the resort.
How to get there
I find the best way is renting a car from the Maui airport. Depending on traffic takes about 30 to 60 minutes. I like to stop and pick up groceries at the Safeway store in Lahaina which is about 15 minutes from the resort. Especially when arriving at night. Follow the signs when leaving the airport to Lahaina. Road is narrow 2 lane and curves so can't drive fast. Once past Lahaina it will be about 15 minutes farther on the left. Turn left at the light Kai Ala road.
