The Recycled House is a unique structure in Charlottesville's lovely North Downtown neighborhood. It is constructed primarily from materials that have come from somewhere else and are getting a second life. It took over five years to collect the materials and use them in a thoughtful way. The house was designed as a guest house and a lot of effort has been put into building a place that's welcoming, interesting and fun! The materials give the place a lot of soul, the light from the 33 windows is fantastic and the location could not be better! The University of Virginia is less than 2 miles away and accessible by the free trolley service. Monticello is less than 5 miles away--about 10 minutes by car. There's a king-sized bed in the master bedroom. The loft has a sleeper sofa that sleeps two, and there's a queen-sized sofa sleeper that sleeps 2 in the living room. The kitchen has top-of-the-line Bosch appliances. There's a side porch, an upstairs deck outside with a treehouse feel, and another deck (made out of aluminum bleachers!) off the kitchen in the back yard. A washer/dryer is available off the master bath. Free wi-fi access is available. If you're searching for a really unique space in a great location, stay at The Recycled House! I had a really great stay. The proprietor met me and showed me around. The house has everything you would need, and the location (in a quiet neighborhood a few blocks from the main st mall) can't be beat. Plan to return.
