Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Amazing Palace Apartment in Tuscany!
We had an amazing stay at Gabbriella's! It's a beautiful and unique space in a former castle-spacious and clean, and had everything we needed to make a month's stay comfortable and easy. We very much enjoyed our Certaldo home, which was even larger than we expected. Two highlights: staying in Certaldo Alto was so special! We walked out of our door to lovely coffee in the morning, excellent dinners in the evening and amazing views of the Tuscan hills. We rented a car a few times during the month to explore the beautiful countryside and had a driver for the wine tasting days-all suggested by our co-host Elisabetta, our other highlight. From the moment we arrived, she took incredible care of us, providing excellent recommendations and being quick to respond to any questions. We so appreciated her kindness, warmth and hospitality. I feel like we found our forever Tuscan home and a forever friend in Elisabetta! I stay in airbnb's around the world and this was one of the best of the best!

Historical accommodation in medieval village
The apartment is is in the cellar of the palace. It has been tastefully restored, was spotlessly clean with a generous supply of toiletries, towels and blankets. The charming owners (very little english) met us in Certaldo, showed us around the apartment and kindly gave us a welcoming gift of delicious biscotti. A two minute walk from the doors is the funicular running every few minutes throughout the day. An excellent service, €1.50 return. Don't bother to drive to the major sights, the train service is wonderful. Lovely restaurants in the village. An electric kettle would have been a bonus.

Beautiful apartment in beautiful location.
We have just returned from an 8 night stay at Palace Stiozzi Ridolfi and we were not disappointed, in fact the pictures on here do not it justice. We were blown away by the property and Certaldo. From the moment the huge palace gates opened for us to drive into the courtyard, to the long stone tunnel passage to the apartment and bedroom overlooking the sitting room was simply breathtaking! The property is spacious, clean and well equipped.. We loved the quirky aspects of this property and the medieval town it's situated in is beautiful. Gabriella and Alessandro are lovely people very hospitable and nothing is too much trouble. They sort any issues very quickly and without fuss. We will definitely go back and stay here as its location is perfect for visiting many places such as Florence, Pisa, Siena, and Chianti.. Perfect!

Perfect accommodation in old Pallazzo
I travelled with my wife and sister in law and this appartment with two bedrooms with double bed and two bathrooms suited perfect. The appartment is spacious and the old Palazzo is stunning. Certaldo Alto is a superb medieval town which is located conveniently to travel in Tuscany. The weather wasn't always good so we had to stay a day at home but even this was a great day. Walking trough the main gate of the Palazzo and tthrough the corridor to the appartment is a experience itself. Gabbriella and Alessandro thank you verry much for having us in your beautifull appartment.

Stunning
We, a family of five, have just returned home after the most wonderful week in Tuscany. Certaldo Alto stole our hearts. It is a beautiful, unspoilt medieval town steeped in history, with lovely authentic Italian restaurants. We enjoyed 3 delicious meals at 3 different restaurants. Other meals we had while exploring the area or by getting supplies from the Coop supermarket in lower Certaldo. On the first day the owner had advised us to meet her in the car park at the train station in the lower town, from there we followed in our hire car to the appartment. This is advisable as the TomTom would never have taken us on the right road! We were able to park in private inner courtyard with electric gates. The owners were so welcoming and friendly; although they spoke only basic English and we knew even less Italian, we communicated fine using sign language and a English to Italian translation app! The appartment itself is stunning and the photographs don't do it justice...walking into the passageway that lead to it, was like stepping back in time (yes, it is in an actual Palace!). The apartment is large, modern and comfortable; tastefully designed on different levels to make the most of the medieval features. The location of the property was ideal. Certaldo has direct train links to Florence (Firenze) and to Siena. The station is a 10 minute walk away (down a very steep hill!), alternatively, there is a funicular railway that links Certaldo Alto to the lower town for only €1.30 or €1.50 return. It would be possible to enjoy a holiday without a hire car, however, we had amazing days exploring Tuscany in the hire car. San Gimignano was incredible, a fairytale town! The Chianti region was full of hidden treasures... Monteriggioni, Castellina, Radda and Vertine all lovely places to visit. It was a privilege to stay in this appartment; a truly wonderful week, with memories to treasure.
