We do not live locally - being 90 miles away in Hertfordshire so we will not be there to meet you. We do have cleaners and a handyman locally for any emergencies. Access is via a key box. We have comprehensive guides in the house and there is a drawer full of local info in the coffee table in the lounge

This was our second stay at Heron cottage. Generally excellent, but there is no tumble dryer and the washing machine was full of sand!More

Hi there I’m sorry the washing machine was full of sand - quite odd in December and when Hythe beach isn’t sandy - someone obviously had fun!!! As you know we don’t live on site so are not aware of these things unless pointed out...More

About the neighbourhood

About two hundred metres from the cottage is the main Hythe Beach with it's wide promenade. Here you may enjoy a swim, family picnic, beach fishing or walk or cycle along the beach front as it stretches right along to Folkestone.

Hythe has an interesting array of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants along its High Street and surrounds, only a short walk away from the cottage.

There are some fine local attractions for a day close to home. Apart from the shingle beach at Hythe, there is a good sandy beach with many facilities nearby at Dymchurch.

By Road
Leave the M20 at junction 11, then at roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the B2068. At roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A20 (signposted Hastings, Hythe). Turn left onto the A261. Once you come into Hythe turn left (one-way), then merge onto the A261. Sainsburys will be on the left and the canal on the right.
