A gem of a stay in The Lighthouse. Thoughtfully designed and decorated, with quality linens and clean functional kitchen equipment. Other guests booked in the nearby accommodation yet was quiet, safe and relaxing. Gorgeous entrance and privacy in the self contained top floor apartment. Has a shabby chic costal vibe with a location on point for shops and green areas for doggy. Lucy was friendly and clear with communication and booking info such as re key safe. Parking on road outside and sea a stones throw away. Eager to return for longer, or if Lucy would like a live in housekeeper I dont mind volunteering!

We weren't told it was on the top floor. The shower didn't work. The CH was poor. The owner didnt reply to our query for 24hrs.Luckily there was a bath and it wasn't too cold ?
Had everything been working it would get a good review. Sadly we won't be going back there again.

Tariff was over £200 per night with a four star tourist board rating. The cleanliness plus lack of maintenance meant we needed to clean the place also lack of maintenance meant we were without hot water and heating or dishwasher.
Main bedroom was without curtains or blind, which made the room very light and without any privacy. Too many other issues to list.
Loved Southwold but will need to find somewhere with a higher standards and a more helpful host!!

The flat was a perfect hideaway for my partner and I . Just a couple of small things would have made this place outstanding. A small welcome pack (milk, sugar, tea, coffee etc) and attention to a few details (salt in the dishwasher, spare toilet rolls and a clean frying pan) would have been very welcome for our fabulous weekend away. We would definitely recommend and return xxx

We enjoyed our stay at the Lighthouse, a nice apar...
We enjoyed our stay at the Lighthouse, a nice apartment which is situated at the opposite end of the road from the sea but you still get a view from the lounge window and you can hear the waves. It's very close to the lighthouse and town too (you can see the lighthouse from the bathrooms).
There are 2 rooms one double with en-suite and one with 2 bunk beds. There is a separate bathroom.
The apartment is well equipped and modern with nice decor. We got a bag of goodies on arrival (coffee, tea, food) which was a nice touch.
It's located on the 3rd floor up narrow stairs. I found the en-suite shower impractical as it had a large head but the cubical wasn't big enough to accommodate it. The bunk beds are nicely fitted and was ok for me, an average sized adult but would be better for kids.
There's no allocated parking (as general in Southwold) but as it was September we managed to park outside on the road everyday. Free roadside parking (beach) is only 100yards away.
Overall, very nice.

Think it's 4*, think again
We decided to visit Southwold and I searched for a dog friendly apartment. The advertisement seemed to fit the bill and a welcome pack was part of the extras on the website l booked from. It was pricier compared to what I usually pay, but I understand that Southwold is not a cheap option.
It's a nice apartment and the view was good.
I was looking forward to a cup of tea and biscuit as I've come to expect on the many many holiday bookings I have made. And you'd think that £200 a night would have covered some tea, coffee, sugar and milk.....
I messaged the mobile number offered and didn't get any reply.
We've had hot water, some heat on a chilly evening... No complaints there.
My husband is very restless at night and I took a 2 bedroom apartment so I can transfer to another bed when necessary. It was a bunk bed, which I could have dealt with. I tried the top bunk, the mattress springs were awful, so the bottom has to do.
On the 2nd morning, there was a knock on the door at 9.30 and a repair man to look at the dishwasher (!).... So we were very unhappy about that. I messaged the mobile number again. In the mid afternoon I finally got a response....
Then a text to say they didn't do welcome packs anymore as their overheads were high... Oh please..we paid just over £600 for 3 nights....
