Perfect for taking a break from the world... we'd love to welcome you to our comfortable and airy 1,300 square foot cottage with its large deck looking out over the forested bluff. The property is on a dead end road with open farmland behind the single line of waterfront cottages. It's like sitting by the ocean! Bring your linens and towels, kick back and enjoy your week. The cottage is always cleaned professionally before guests arrive. The private beach is sandy, located in a shallow cove of the lake. Collect driftwood and make fires on the beach to roast hot dogs, marshmallows and make art work with found objects from the stones... throw yourself into the waves on a a kayak and launch yourself into a spectacular sunset! Play games, find fossils in stones, dry off, paddle, play beach...Perfect for taking a break from the world... we'd love to welcome you to our comfortable and airy 1,300 square foot cottage with its large deck looking out over the forested bluff. Play games, find fossils in stones, dry off, paddle, play beach volleyball or simply read books you have been meaning to read for a long time. The porch and beautiful stairs to the beach below are new, the kitchen and a bathroom with shower are new as well. The dining area and kitchen have cedar paneling, new mattresses or mattress toppers. New for 2017: There is a barrel bunkie! It can be rented for an extra $200 per stay and has a king size sleeping platform, a small table and 2 benches. Great for kids, couples, teens... If you feel like exploring the immediate shoreline: The historic, beautiful and tranquil village of Bayfield, Goderich and the waterfront summer holiday town of Grand Bend are all close by. They offer fine dining, museums and good shopping. Goderich is home to the largest salt mine in the world and has an impressive port. Bayfield has a lovely marina. The new Windmill Lake and Eco Park: an outdoor recreation park where you can try wakeboarding, paddleboarding, yoga on or off paddleboards, go canoeing... there are also golf courses, minigolf, fitness classes, an art studio that offers children & adult classes (also drop-in), 4 beautiful hiking trails where dogs may be walked, guided fishing tours, a library, the 100 year old wooden Sloman school car... you can rent jet skis in Grand Bend, go waterskiing, even go sky diving. something for everyone. On rainy days, it is fun to visit an 'adventure/ escape room' or to go to the games café (both in Goderich). London is about an hour, Toronto about 2 1/2 hours away (information for those of you who like to combine work and play). There are plenty of festivals and events to visit: The famous Stratford Shakespeare Festival, the Blyth Summer Theatre, The Huron Summer Playhouse in Grand Bend or the Goderich Celtic Festival. Movie screenings: The Starlight Drive-In Theatre is close to Grand Bend, Goderich has the Park Theatre, Pioneer Park in Bayfield has summer movie screenings as well as other events. There are good libraries in Bayfield, Zurich and Goderich with free Wi-Fi access. You will find farmers markets (Fridays in Bayfield), fresh fish (the day's catch) and fresh produce stands that sell fresh fruit and vegetables from the farms all around, antique stores or flea markets and good food in restaurants.
