About the neighbourhood
This is a wine growing area and our house looks South out over Côte du Rhône vineyards. There are many domaines and co-ops for wine tasting immediately on our doorstep - we buy mostly from Bel Air at La Roque sur Céze but everywhere has very good wines. Our nearest shops and cafes etc are in Goudargues 30 mins walk or 3 mins by car. There is a supermarket at half that distance down on the main road. Roman is a little hamlet of about 20 houses and as we are almost the last house the only traffic is from our nearest neighbours. We are situated about halfway up a hillside with a hill behind us giving protection from any strong winds
How to get there
Quickest is the A7 down the Rhône Valley coming off at Bollene. But this is a very busy route in Summer so an alternative (but longer) might be travelling down further West across the Massive Centrale, the A75 (free) and coming off at Millau (Norman Foster's spectacular viaduct). This is a rather beautiful route and could be part of your holiday with an overnight stay somewhere
