You can also walk through the woods on the sugaring road. The Old Wheel sits on corner of route 73 and the Adirondack Loj Road, 3 miles outside of Lake Placid. This would be a great base camp for hikers as it is located at the beginning of the road that goes into the Adirondack Loj and the base of the High Peaks. More

We liked the history of this cabin and the interior set-up. It was rustic and old fashioned- a unique Adirondack experience.

About the neighbourhood
The cabin is surrounded by trees but it sits about 100 feet off Cascade Road (Route 73). It was built to be a restaurant so it was necessary not to be too far off the road.
