About the neighbourhood
Hudson is a once-down-at-heel gem of a town, filled with original federal, Greek revival and Victorian architecture, that time seemed to have forgotten for awhile until its more recent rebirth as a center for arts, culture, and foodie festivities. With a diverse and artistic population, it boasts upstate's first gay pride parade, bed races, Flag Day parade, and of course Winter Walk, during which stores and galleries open their doors in the evening and carolers provide street music. There are concerts at the Basilica (a performance venue near the train station), music at Club Helsinki in the middle of town, and the recently renovated Hudson Opera House for exhibits and performances as well. There is always something interesting going on.
Hudson has its own Amtrak stop within easy walking distance of everything in the historic district, including this house. You can just walk up the hill from the station, or if you like, take one of the cabs that's usually at the station when the train comes in. If you're driving, there's easy (free) on street, alternate side parking in front of the house. Walk to all Hudson has to offer from the apartment, including shopping on Warren Street (a block away), great restaurants, music venues, galleries, antique shops, and great shopping of every kind. You can also meander the town with the self guided walking tours available at the apartment, stopping for coffee or lunch whenever you like.

How to get there
Railway: Hudson Amtrak: 0.5 km
By Amtrak, Hudson is a beautiful two hour ride from NYC, on a route along the Hudson River, where travelers can watch the boat traffic, as well as eagles, deer, foxes and other wildlife. If you're coming from NYC by train, be sure to sit on the west side of the train, get in line early, and help yourself to a window seat. Hudson is also accessible by car, which provides more flexibility if one wants to visit Frederic Church's museum/home, Olana, or hiking destinations in Greene County, across the river.from Hudson.
