Cottage
Mutti’s Cottage is on the same property as the very popular Chateau Neuf du Cap (Bookingcom review of 10 stars – “Exceptional”). It is situated on the slopes of the Hout Bay Valley behind Table Mountain. It is very close to the famous “World of Birds” – and one can appreciate the prolific bird like in the area.
The self-catering cottage consists of 1 bedroom, 1 full bathroom (bath + shower), 1 additional toilet and a lounge/dining room with double sleeper couch. The kitchen is open plan.
Guests can prepare their meals in the kitchen equipped with an oven and hob, microwave and fridge with a freezer.
There is safe off-the-street parking and automatic gates. Car park position is right next to the cottage for easy access.

Perfect cottage in the heart of Hout Bay
Ashley and Debbie's place was fantastic. It was exactly as shown in the photos - perfectly situated, super comfortable, stunning garden, lovely big kitchen, and an amazing swimming pool! Ashley and Debbie were both so welcoming and went out of their way to make my stay extra comfortable. Would recommend their cottage to anyone looking to stay in lovely, leafy Hout Bay!

Comfortable, private and peaceful cottage
I had a really nice 7 week stay in the cottage. It is comfortable, private and peaceful, set in its own small garden, up a quiet lane in Hout Bay. The cottage is a short drive from Hout Bay supermarkets and shops, small harbour and beach, and was a convenient base for exploring the Cape Peninsula. It was particularly great to be able to go for sundowners on beautiful Llandudno beach, and enjoy short hikes up Kleinleeu Koppie and in Oudekraal Nature Reserve (part of the broader Table Mountain Nature Reserve), all close in the vicinity.

Perfect cottage for a relaxing stay, with an amazing pool and wonderful mountain views.
Mutti's Cottage in the grounds of Ashley's and Debbie's beautiful house was well equipped and peaceful with an amazing pool. The whole family were welcoming and helpful, with nothing too much trouble for them to make our stay enjoyable. Harry, their poodle was a delight! Both their staff were happy and friendly and did their jobs well. A car was essential for us to get around but access to Hout Bay and surrounding areas was easy. We really enjoyed our stay - excellent in all areas. We will be recommending Mutti's Cottage to all our friends!

Fantastic cottage, with great views.
thank you to Ashley and Debbie for letting us stay in your fantastic cottage, I had just recovered from major surgery and needed somewhere to help me recover, this place was just what the doctor ordered,we stayed for ten days and it was an Ideal place to have a relaxing stay or a great base for exploring South Africa, Even before we arrived in South Africa, Ashley e- mailed me and called to have a chat on the phone. We only had one reason to call Ashley during our stay, when the automatic gates refused to open, and he was there to sort things out within a few minutes.The swimming pool was an added bonus as the weather started to get lovely and hot it was ideal to cool down in. the cottage had everything you need for a self catering holiday, although we did not utilise it to its full extent as there are so many lovely places to eat in the surrounding area, we ate out every day.
If we return to South Africa in the future, i will not hesitate contacting Ashley and booking Mutti's cottage again.

Just the perfect Hout Bay location
Arrived end January and here for five weeks ,so week and a bit to go and to be frank I would happily stay five months !! It has everything a couple needs for an extended stay and we have use of the pool less than a minute away
The cottage is quiet and secluded on the mountain slope facing the valley and the garden is lush and leafy...and yet we are 5 mins drive from Hout Bay with all the shops you need and plenty restaurants , it is also an easy drive to Camps Bay and on to the Waterfront, about 30 mins
Ashley is a great host,nothing is too much trouble and he might just not be getting the keys back on 6th March !!

Perfect - Home from Home - Holiday cottage
Located just above World of Birds in Hout Bay, inmidst of wonderful shadegiving trees, this. cottage is quietly tucked away yet very near every where you want to be: Shops, eating places, the Mariners wharf and the Harbour.
Llundudno Beach is just a short drive, although there is obviously also Hout Bay Beach.
"Mutti's cottage" is very well equiped with a full kitchen, nice deco. We enjoyed the terrace, you even have a small Weber Braai, which we made use of.
A large bedroom with a very comfortable kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom, as well as a guest toilet and even a washing machine make for a very comfortable stay.
The owner family Is wonderful, the Poodle adoring. Ashley is super friendly and easygoing, he also speaks German quiete well - there for you when you need something, otherwise you are given all the privacy you want.
To summarize: we had an amazing and very relaxing stay, and we'll visit again!

Sweet and comfortable cottage in Hout Bay
Mutti’s Cottage has everything you need for a pleasant stay in Hout Bay. It’s situated on a lovely property that overlooks the Bay and from the cottage itself, you can see the famous Chapman’s Peak drive. Well-appointed, private, bright, comfortable and surprisingly roomy for a one bedroom cottage, it is securely tucked in among fine trees and shrubbery in an upper scale neighbourhood. The kitchen is fully equipped, there is maid service once a week and the busy but gracious and helpful hosts, Ashley and Debbie, are there if or when you need them. There is a large, beautiful pool on the property that is available to renters and WiFi and television are connected inside the cottage. A trip to Cape Town is a delightful twenty minutes, traversing world class scenery. All in all, we enjoyed a very happy month at 8A Stirrup Lane and highly recommend it.

This cottage is perfectly placed to access Capetown , Constantia and Muzzenburg as well as the beautiful beaches of Llandudno,Hout Bay and Camps Bay. There are a large selection of good restaurants and supermarkets a short drive away. The cottage is kitted out to a high standard and communication with Ashley was always quick. The cottage is set in its own grounds but you have access to the pool at the big house Chateau Neuf du Cap where Ashley and his family live. We also had the cottage cleaned once a week.we loved the peace of the area and to look over towards the bay over the world of birds.

A lovely cottage
This cottage is absolutely ideal for a couple. It is very comfortable and has everything you would want for a very laid back holiday. The owners are on site if there are any problems - however, we really did not require any assistance at all but Ashley was so helpful on our arrival.
Very easy drive to the beach, restaurants and shopping. Hout Bay is a lovely destination for a holiday.

Had a blast
My husband and I have had the pleasure of staying at the cottage for more than six months and enjoyed it so much. It is quiet and secluded with a lovely garden! We especially appreciated that it's about five minutes away from the beach, shops and some of the best Restaurants in Cape Town. But to top it all, our family (two dogs included) were welcomed and felt at home since the first day that we arrived!

About the neighbourhood
Situated in the beautiful seaside village of Hout Bay, close to Cape Town, with the glamour of the Waterfront, the spectacular Table Mountain, the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, and our own World of Birds.
The beach is beautiful for romantic strolls, beach sports, or just lazing in the sun. World-class restaurants for all tastes, mountain hikes for the energetic. We overlook the bay and Chapmans Peak, the spectacular drive likened to the calanques of Monte Carlo.
We are at the start the beautiful drive to the Cape of Good Hope, and just 40 minutes from the Winelands of Stellenbosch, Paarl and the picturesque village Franschoek, the French corner.
Getting around
Recommended to have car rental or travel by Uber which is very easy to use. The owners frequently use Uber themselves.
Chateau Neuf du Cap is quite accessible. We are walking distance to one of the stops of the very popular and enjoyable "Hop-on, Hop-off City Sightseeing Cape Town Red Bus". Once on board - it takes you on a beautiful scenic tour all along the coastal road to Cape Town - and back via botanical gardens and winelands.
We are only a 20-minute drive to the centre of Cape Town, Table Mountain and the Waterfront. We are 30 minutes drive from the airport.
