The parks offer hiking, biking, kayaking, rock climbing and fishing as well as groomed trails for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The three parks are known for spectacular waterfalls cascading down the Gooseberry and Baptism Rivers, the cliffs and sea caves of Shovel Point and Palisade Head as well as one of the most famous lighthouses in North America: Split Rock Lighthouse. Each offers access to the Superior Hiking Trail on the ridges of the Sawtooth Mountains as well as lake access to kayaking on the Lake Superior Water Trail.
