Whether you are travelling with family or friends, adults or children, this enchanting hideaway is the perfect retreat for a truly relaxing holiday, as well as a comfortable base to explore all that the famous Perigord Noir has to offer. You´ll find yourselves tucked away on the outskirts of one of the Dordogne´s most charming villages. Having grown up in the area, I will be here to welcome you with all my local knowledge to help you get the best out of your holiday! Situated on the outskirts of one of the Dordogne´s best-kept secret villages, the 200 year old stone-built cottage is the perfect place to escape from the world, yet still be within short driving distance of some of the Perigord Noir´s most famous historical and cultural sites. You can visit all the famous attractions (caves, castles, gardens, river swimming spots, markets and the most picturesque of towns, such as Les Eyzies, Limeuil, Beynac and Sarlat) within a 10 to 30 minute drive. However, the property is in a very private location on the outskirts of a traditional French village surrounded by a secluded garden. The property has recently been renovated and offers all the modern comforts of a home whilst retaining the essence of the local French architecture. The cottage is stylishly furnished, mixing antiques with designer pieces and includes all the modern conveniences. It enjoys two shaded verandahs – one at the front of the house and one at the back covered in vines – perfect for summer barbecues and apéritifs. The house is South facing and benefits from the sun all day long. The property offers a comfortable country getaway in the heart of the Dordogne for 4 adults and 2 children. On the ground floor you will find a fully equipped kitchen with a cosy dining area, and a separate living room with a traditional wood-burning chimney as the main focal point. You will also find a useful large shower room. On the first floor you will find three bedrooms - each with a comfortable double bed and crisp white linen - one with the cutest of balconies overlooking the garden, and an additional bathroom. There are also 2 cots available for infants. It´s as perfect a place for a family as it is for two families or a small group of friends travelling together. The garden surrounding the house is a mix of shaded areas and sunny lawns. Guests can enjoy the outdoor rugs and cushions to make the most of the outside as much as the inside. The property is located on a small hill so if anyone in your party has mobility issues or very young children, do not hesitate to ask for more information on access. At the back of the house, you will find a fabulous outdoor seating area with separate dining table and barbecue, so that you can enjoy those atmospheric summer evenings. The cherry on the cake is the totally private pool which is located slightly apart from the house behind an old wall with it´s own door, which is ideal when travelling with children so that the area can be closed off when not in use. The pool is surrounded by quality decking and poolside furniture so that you could easily spend the whole day comfortably relaxing under the parasol. All you have to do is picture it and I´ll take care of the rest! A fee of 60 Euros will be charge separately upon booking to cover part of the cleaning fees to make the house as lovely as possible for your arrival. A little finishing note from us - you may have noticed that we don´t currently have any guest reviews which is due to the fact that this is the first summer we have decided to share our home, but I can guarantee you that you will fall in love with the hamlet & house!More

Interaction with guests
Originally born in the UK, I was brought up in the Dordogne and I am eager to share my love of the region. I live a few minutes walk from the lovely cottage, which I manage for our family friends Jules, Joris & little George who have made it their very special home from home. I will be here to welcome you when you arrive and be on hand, should you need me, throughout the duration of your holiday to deal with all practicalities as well as all the fun holiday stuff!

We stayed for 3 glorious weeks with a mixture of friends and family visiting over that time. Rosie, who manages the property, is a gem. As is her family. We pottered around beautiful nearby villages and lazed around the pool and in the evenings sat...More

About the neighbourhood
This region is rich in historic sites including the Lascaux Caves, and the fascinating Bastide towns such as Beaumont, Moliéres, and Monpazier which run along the spectacular Dordogne river. Travel by car or by flat-bottomed 'gabarres' (river boats) to see the many magnificent châteaux to be found within easy reach of our cottage. Local, traditional markets abound and your days will be spent trying the freshest produce including the best selection of the classic food of the Perigord: foie gras, duck confit, walnuts, goat cheese, truffles and wine. You will find an information pack of all of our favourite restaurants and sites in the cottage. There's plenty to discover!
Getting around
Our neartest town is Le Bugue which is an 8 km drive. It´s renown for it´s market on Tuesdays and Saturdays which is a great place for local produce and souvenirs. The town also has big supermarkets (Intermarche, LIDL, Aldi, Leaderprice, Farmshop) so ideal for any supplies you may need. Our cottage' is also situated in the Perigord Noir within easy reach of the famous caves and paleolithic history of Les Eyzies (15 minutes), Sarlat (35 minutes) with its medieval streets and famous market, and Bergerac (55 minutes), famous for foie gras, wines and ancient architecture. Périgueux (40 minutes) has fabulous shopping, while St Emilion (1h30) offers the perfect excursion to a quintessential Bordeaux wine-country town.
