Right at "the point" of Stonington the pictures shown here do depict just how gorgeous the views are from this cottage. The nearby nature preserve is a lovely walk through a 'hobbit' like atmosphere with everything covered in moss, and squirells happy to sit and pose for you! It's very secluded, but also not so far from civilization for when you feel like it. Sunsets galore, with birds and bunnies as an added bonus! The quaint village of Stonington is a short drive and offers a nice selection of restaurants and little art shops and of course marinas!

The cottage itself is everything that is said in the other reviews, darling cute, lovely cozy fireplace, well appointed with necessities (we had to learn how to use a coffee perculator!) The water does run, and the toilet does flush, but there's a little more to it than just that. The "solar heating" - we never did get any warm water, and please note their website says "for shower and dishes"...

This was a dream come true to stay right on the rocky coast of Maine, within walking distance of a market (a mile) and a couple of miles from the heart of a fishing village. A Nature Conservancy trail containing a "Fog Forest" is within walking distance, in fact the whole Point is part of this forest.
The house is charming and cozy with everything you'd need to be comfortable. Clean and comfortable bed, fully appointed kitchen and many books about Maine and by Maine authors and there are gas light sconces to read by at night. The fireplace works well and wood/kindling is provided. Sunsets are spectacular as they pour over Barred Island, another preserve with beautiful trails that is easy to canoe/kayak to. We rowed over and swam off one of the sandy beaches there although the water was very cold even in August. We also rowed into the...
