Leave your car in our driveway and enjoy all Rockland has to offer. Our 1863 two bedroom home is on a quiet residential street just 2 blocks from Rockland's Main Street. Excellent restaurants, waterfront, unique shops, galleries, museums and live performance venues. The space You will love this comfortable downtown house where you can enjoy a quiet evening, but just be steps away from all the downtown activity. The living room has comfy chairs and a gas wood stove. Across from the dining room, you will find a desk area, set up for a lap top with internet connection. There is a full bath with a walk-in shower downstairs. Upstairs there are, 2 bedrooms and a private bath with large soaking tub, a guest favorite. The master bedroom has a comfortable 4-poster queen size bed, an air conditioner, chaise lounge for afternoon reading, dresser space, closet space, and a view over the backyard. The front bedroom has a double bed and a single bed, a large fan, comfortable seating, dresser space, and closet space. Guests will be provided with clean linens and towels. During the colder months, the upstairs guest space has a separate thermostat to regulate heat according to guest preferences. We have a large fenced in back yard, great for evening barbecues on our new gas grill. There is parking for 1 guest car and parking is available on the street. Guest access Guests will have full and private access to the front part of the house, with the two upstairs bedrooms and bath and downstairs living room, dining room, study space, kitchen, and full bath. Guests will have full access to the side porch and the back yard where you will find a new gas grill. Interaction with guests We love meeting our guests in person, but during the summer we live on an island off of Rockland, so we are rarely in town. If we are in town, we will be in the back part of the house which has a separate entrance. We will bring along our 12 year old dog, who will try and convince you to play ball with him. Our neighbors, Chris and Erin, will be available to greet you, answer any questions, and solve any house issues if they should develop. We can be reached by phone and will respond promptly to texts, calls, emails, or Airbnb messages. You will find a welcome booklet with helpful information as well as a list of our local recommendations. The neighborhood Our home is on a quiet residential street within a 4 minute walk to Rockland's Main Street attractions, including The Farnsworth Museum, Contemporary Art Museum, The Strand Theater, Atlantic Bakery (!), numerous art galleries, our working harbor with its boardwalk and Harbor Trail, unique shops, and many excellent restaurants and cafes. Watch the schooners sail into the harbor or plan a schooner day trip. You will find that you can park your car in our driveway and easily walk to all Rockland downtown has to offer. Our house is a five minute drive to Owls Head with its light house, beaches (including the white sandy beach, Crescent Beach), and the general store (voted best burger in Maine!). We are just 15 minutes from Camden. Rockland is a perfect home base for a midcoast Maine adventure! Getting around We are a seven minute walk to the ferry/ bus terminal. There are ferries to North Haven, Vinalhaven, and Matinicus from the Rockland Ferry Terminal. There is also bus service from Rockland to Portland and Boston. The airport is a short taxi ride away in Owls Head. Other things to note The house comes with wireless internet and standard spectrum television cable. This is a non-smoking house and a no pet accommodation. Please leave your shoes in the entry. We ask that nothing leave the house, so plan accordingly for such things as beach towels or picnic supplies. Please be considerate of the neighborhood and the impact that comings and goings, lights and noise can create. Please tidy up and straighten up after yourself before departing.
