The Blue House is an old wooden home, I would say its slightly dated and a little tired around the edges but quiet and comfortable and clean. Smelled of mothballs when we arrived but aired out quickly.
Deer Isle is a great area to visit, if you are into kayaking or hiking you won't be dissapointed here. The lilly pond is 5 minutes away from this house and a great place to cool off in the summer. Stonington is well worth a visit, don't expect a bustling town this is an island in Downeast Maine, there are several small local stores which cater for just about everything you need. There is a great coffee shop in Deer Isle village that roasts it's own beans, numerous art galleries on the Island too.
Blue Hill is sbout 30 minute drive, there are more shops here and more art galleries too. Bar Harbour and Acadia National Park is about an hour and a half drive away.
