The Mountain Goat Lodge is a B&B located just outside of beautiful Salida, CO. We book the entire lodge out for groups, weddings, family reunions or individually as a B&B. Six ensuite guest rooms have balcony and mountain views. We also have 4 additional trailers sleep 3 persons each for total of 28 people (trailers available only during June - Sep for 130.00 per night). We have 19 acres that your group may enjoy - hiking, communing with the animals, sipping coffee during the winter inside our warm and inviting geodesic dome greenhouse.
During milking season, the owners are around to give barn tours and milking demonstrations. The goats are super friendly and enjoy being petted. Free range chickens wander around for local color.
The great room has cozy fireplace with leather sofas, easy chairs, and grand piano. We are pet friendly...

On our second visit to the Mountain Goat Lodge, my husband and I brought our dog Max, grown kids, siblings, and seven year-old nephew for a three-night Thanksgiving getaway that couldn’t be beat. We communed with the farm animals—24 adorable goats, Pilar the llama, and chickens—and the two personable lodge dogs. With great beds and quiet hours, owners/hosts Gina and D’Arcy make it possible to get a good night’s sleep and then wake to a full breakfast with espresso drinks. Tons to do. We walked and hiked, soaked in hot springs, and shopped art galleries in nearby Salida with the stunning Collegiate Peaks 14ers as an unobstructed backdrop. Accommodations are just right with many thoughtful additions like a game room, hot tub, and fireplace. They recycle and reuse, and aim for a low environmental impact. We recommend the place.

Management response:

It was so nice to host your family! Kudos also for getting everyone together from so far away - it's great to see such commitment in a large family. We have been making small improvements to continue to lower our carbon footprint, it's great that it shows. We strive to improve even more with more solar coming (to heat our...

About the neighbourhood
We are out in the country on 20 acres, just 12 minutes from the town of Salida. We are on Highway 285, so access is never a problem. Our parking lot is huge so you can park many cars trucks and RV's (no hook ups). It is a semi arid climate at 7500 feet so our pasture (with goats and llama) is kind of sparse, without much grass, but lots of Juniipers and Pinon Pine trees. It has rolling hills and some hiking hills.
We have an unobstructed view of the Sawatch Mountains to the west, and views of the Arkansas River Valley to the east. We are 20 miles from Monarch Ski Resort, 20 miles from Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, 1 hrs to the Great Sand Dunes and many other attractions.
We have classes and activities on our property as well.
