Getting around
AWD is advised year-round in Colorado. During the winter you must have AWD or 4WD especially if you plan to ski at Monarch Ski Resort, 20 minutes away. Often times there is snow and a Vehicle Traction Law is in place and enforced by the Colorado State Patrol. Without AWD or 4WD you may not be allowed to travel on US Hwy 50 or over mountain passes. Our county road is a maintained road but plowing sometimes does not occur for up to 24 hours if there is heavy snow.
