The cabin has a key box and guests are provided with the code the day prior to their arrival. I live on the 7 acre property on the other side of the road (on the river) and am usually available to provide assistance, as needed. We had a wonderful time. The place was delightful! It was clean, well-appointed, and had all the amenities of home. The beds were comfy, the deck was a perfect place for a morning "cuppa." We all wish we had more time to spend there. Not...More

About the neighbourhood
Rustic while having all the comforts of city/suburban living.
Very historic areas with good hiking, fishing, kayaking, boating on lakes, and water enjoyment.
Beautiful throughout the year with very manageable snow in the winter with snowshoe hiking and cross country skiing (Scott and Oregon Mountains, and boarding, skating and skiing at Mt. Shasta Ski Park. There are wonderful water water related activities in the spring and summer (Trinity River, Lewiston and Trinity Lakes, Whiskeytown Lakes) such as kayaking, rafting, SUPing, hiking, or just relaxing and taking in the views of the area.
Getting around
The neighborhood is a mix of locals and retirees who live here or visit their second homes in Poker Bar. Some residents live on the river and some up in the hills. It's fun to bike/walk up and down Reo Lane, Bridge Road, and Poker Bar West (public road even though there are homeowner 'private' signs) and/or swim in the area lakes and river. You can kayak all along any part of the river. It's best to use larger rafts on the river and inner tubes on the lakes. Whiskeytown Lake is about 18 miles to the east on Hwy 299 and is a little warmer water than the other lakes and simply beautiful for all water fun. I have a parking pass for guests to use as needed. Trinity Lake and Lewiston Lake are equally beautiful and well used.

How to get there
Airport: Redding (in miles): 15.0 km
From the Bay Area, take I-80 to I-505 and then I-5 north. Once in Redding, take exit 678 Hwy 44 West which turns into Hwy 299 and follow signs towards Eureka and Weaverville.
When using GPS directions, please use 411 Bridge Road, Lewiston'. The cabin is one short walk to the river, with boat launch areas in and around the neighborhood and nearby public recreation areas (Bucktail, Steel Bridge, Steiner Flat, Whiskeytown Lake, etc).
Once past downtown Redding, travel about 28 miles and pass signs for Lewiston & Trinity Lakes. Turn right at the Poker Bar Road exit. Travel down about 1.2 miles and turn R on Bridge Road. Go over the double bridge past a large '411' sign (my driveway) to the intersection of Reo Lane/Quad P. Cross the intersection and the cabin is located abou...
