This lovely 16th century holiday cottage sits in the stunning grounds of Grimblethorpe Hall located in the Lincolnshire Wolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The hall itself is a Grade 2 * listed building dating back to 1620. The Shepherds Cottage has been restored with original beams and stonework and has a very spacious king size double bedroom, lounge, kitchen / dining area and bathroom. The décor and refurbishment of this charming building, previously used for centuries as the cottage in which the farm’s shepherd stayed during lambing time, has been undertaken to the very highest quality. The Shepherds is a dog / pet friendly cottage (by prior arrangement). Grimblethorpe Hall holiday cottages are situated in the charming hamlet of Grimblethorpe, six miles from the market town of Louth, and 22 miles from the City of Lincoln with its wonderful cathedral and castle, where one of the original copies of the Magna Carta is displayed. Golden sandy beaches can be reached in 30 -40 mins, and most are dog friendly. There are four cottages in Lincolnshire to choose from at Grimblethorpe Hall. The hamlet of Grimblethorpes’ name is derived from the Norman Knight Grim, and it is thought that this is where he had his thorpe or settlement as quantities of stone implements, dugout canoes and gold ornaments have been found. Legend has it that the Knight is buried in the tumulus on the hill, now known as Grim’s Mound.More

For a one bedroom cottage there was lots of room. Very clean and comfortable and a nice welcome pack courtesy of Andy. The accommodation is well situated for visiting all parts of Lincolnshire and would certainly stay in Shepherds again.More
