Full luxury in breathtaking natural beauty. Remote and private. So quiet you can hear your heart beat. At night, no city lights disturb your view of the star-studded sky. From this 1,475 square foot Casita, you'll enjoy panoramic 360-degree views: Abiquiu Lake, miles of mesas, rolling hills, and the magnificent red cliffs surrounding the famous Ghost Ranch. To the south you'll see the 10,000-foot mountain known as El Pedernal, which Georgia O'Keefe made famous in her paintings, along with much of the near landscape. This is a new Casita, built in 2008, and designed by a local architect in a southwestern yet modern style. It's fully furnished for comfort. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, including a Bosch gas stove with heavy gauge grills for those who really love to cook. ...Full luxury in breathtaking natural beauty. Remote and private. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

The hype is well-deserved!
This is a beautiful, comfortable house overlooking the most incredible vistas to be had in NM. You'll see why Georgia O never wanted to leave! The house is comfortably furnished with beautiful art throughout. The bed was slightly on the soft side, which was great for us. The soaking tub is a delight with a picture window over it through which you can star-gaze while bathing by candlelight. The kitchen is outfitted with all the basics, along with some pantry items and spices. Keep in mind that those, along with the generously provided toiletries are all in open containers shared by other renters, so if you don't like that - bring your own. The house was impecably clean. We felt very comfortable and safe, and if it puts your mind at ease (COVID-wise) you can wash linens in the washer/dryer provided. Keep in mind that it is a 30-minute drive back to civilization (that's the whole point, right?!) so bring the essentials with you. We picked one day to drive around the area to see Ghost Ranch, Echo Ampitheater, and Plaza Blanca, but otherwise stayed home doing puzzles and staring at the landscape. The owner is great - very friendly and helpful! The road up the hill is gravel and winding, but we made it with no problem. Probably a very low-slung car might have issues, but you don't need 4-wheel drive. The star of the show all weekend though was the sky. Gorgeous sunrises, sunsets, and a clear view of the milky way and a glorious meteor shower at night. The closest humans are 1/4 mile (or so) away on neighboring mesas. One night, you could see little campfires on six of those hills while everyone was out watching for shooting stars, and one had a guitar player. It was a magical night, to end a glorious stay.

It's all about the view.
The roads approaching this beautiful casita were a little hard on my low slung Prius, but the view was worth it. Loved being able to open windows and experience the lovely breezes. This is the perfect place to just kick back and watch the sunset for a couple of days. Be sure to grocery shop before arriving. Because of the gravel roads, it takes some time to get back to the main road. If you want to journey out for dinner (or sightseeing) though, your hosts have provided plenty of suggestions.

Hi Janice, So glad you enjoyed our little slice of heaven on top of the Mesa ;-) Yeah, out here in Georgia O'keefe country, it's always best to have a small SUV or any vehicle with a little extra clearance. No need for 4 wheel drive though, as the roads are maintained year round. You are always welcome back to visit us. All the best, Larry and Laurie
