We loved the house, the village and the area. We had everything wd needed in the property. You do need a car if you want to go down to the nearest town or the beach, but if you just want to get away from it...More

About the neighbourhood
With its mountainous terrain and unrestricted tracks free of traffic, the valley is popular with both hikers and mountain bikers and those seeking tranquility.

Benaque was the birthplace of the poet, novelist and dramatist Salvador Rueda (1857-1933) whose work greatly featured Andalucian themes and to whom a small museum is dedicated in the village.

Just 1.5 km away, Macharaviaya is a historically important and picturesque village. Its impressive church houses the remains of the politically influencial Galvez family of the 1700's who made Macharaviaya well-known far beyond its regional borders. Nowadays, it's population is merely a few hundred. The historical center of the village has a preservation order on it. Some Spanish and foreign artists, ceramicists, painters and writers...
