Barralach farmhouse

Cottage -
5 Bedrooms , 4 Bathrooms , Sleeps 12
Glenbeigh, County Kerry
Barralach is absolutely exceptional in that it consists of three habitable cottages let out as a single home. There are beds for up to 12 guests in three distinct cottages, providing an agreeable degree of independence. The main cottage includes the kitchen and large dining room, with a table that seats 14. There is also the large drawing room area with great log stoves and extensive library. There is unlimited free firewood from our own woods. Numerous visitors have thus declared it the perfect location for great and joyful family reunions and for specialist groups such as golfers, artists, and hikers. This ancient settlement is unspoilt by modernity, although comfortable, and enjoys its stunning views in delightful mountain isolation, except for the sheep, hares and other wildlife. The housekeeper may be prepared to cook fine meal... Read more

Barralach is a beautiful set of cottages on a mountainside with an amazing view. The cottages are rustic, cozy, spacious and very well appointed. Only minutes from Glenbeigh, Barralach is on Kerry Way; the sheep that roam in the vicinity complete the scenery without being...More

The views are breathtaking and the location is perfect for a stay in Kerry. While staying on the mountain you can easily imagine how it was in centuries past. The quiet, the air, watching the sheep dot the mountains, noticing how the clouds come in...More

About the neighbourhood
The attractions of Glenbeigh are well presented in the community's website video www.glenbeigh.ie Key features are Rossbeigh strand, hill walking especially along the Kerry Way and horse riding including the Glenbeigh Races (generally in early September), and Dooks golf course. Caragh Lake rejoices in amazing beauty, boat fishing, Lickeen Fair in June, Puck Fair in Killorglin in August. We are only 45 minutes drive to the departure point of boats to the Skellig Islands, so justifiably a UNESCO world heritage site. The Skelligs are an historical, spiritual, ornithological and geological wonder.

How to get there
Nearest airport is Kerry airport, distant 40 minutes. Alternatives are Cork airport, 2 hours; and Shannon airport, 2 and a half. Cars may be rented at any of these airports, with a good range of suppliers. Closest ferry ports are at Cork and Rosslare. Easy-to-follow and 'fool-proof' instructions on how to reach the cottages will be sent to visitors. The instructions will include advice on two excellent groceries stores. These are right on your route and open until late..
