Chalet Fauvettes contains 11 apartments - ours is on the ground floor with a lovely mountain view to the west through french windows across our covered patio and lawn, and so enjoys warm lunchtime to evening sunshine in the later ski season and summer. The apartment is about 120 ms beyond the main Medran gondola lift, and 600 ms from the town centre, so despite a quiet situation, it is easy walking distance from many shops, restaurants, bars, etc. and has near ski-in ski-out access. The apartment is about 120 ms beyond the main Medran gondola lift, and 600 ms from the town centre, so despite a quiet situation, it is easy walking distance from many shops, restaurants, bars, etc. and has near ski-in ski-out access. In summer, lifts are run free* to give access to high level walks and at 50%* discount for mountain biking trails. There is a lovely 18-hole par-70 golf course, plus a pitch and putt, (both get discounts*) and the town holds many summer events including a 17-day world renowned music festival in late-July into August; equestrian shows; mountain-biking with competitions up to International level, etc. There is a superb sports centre with free* outdoor and indoor heated pools, tennis and skating. Summer touring includes easy days out to Aosta in Italy over/through the St Bernard, or over the Forclaz to Chamonix. Our apartment is about 50 sq. ms (500 sq.ft.) - great for 2, fine for 3/4, and possible for 5/6 people - the pine-panelled bedroom has a fitted carpet and rug, with a curtain to divide the double bed from the adult-size bunks, all with quality mattresses, and bedding is John Lewis down duvets, plus an assortment of feather or man-made pillows, with 2 large fitted wardrobes, shelves, bedlamps, etc. and the excellent easily converted flat sofa-bed (3-seater, with a 200 x 150cms mattress) in the part-pine living room has a curtain to divide it from the kitchen/dining end. 2 comfortable easy chairs complement the sofa, with a large rug and coffee table making for comfortable lounging to watch TV etc - which has most main BBC and ITV programmes, CNN, Sky News, Eurosport, plus others on cable. There is a full-size 4-ring cooker with oven and grill, an under-counter frig with small freezer compartment, and a microwave oven. An oval pine dining table with 4 fixed plus 4 folding chairs and a large pine 'welsh' dresser complete the picture, and there is plenty equipment for good self-catering. The hall has a wardrobe, benches, a boot rack, shelving and coat hangers. There is a ski-room by the chalet's front door; and an adjacent utility room has a communal coin-op Miele washing machine and a dryer. The apartment was extensively refitted in 2015 with new mattresses & carpets; all-new bathroom fittings - bath with shower and curtain, loo, sink with cupboard below and mirrored cupboard above - and fully re-tiled; the hall and living room floors were also re-tiled, and all paintwork renovated. Outside, the paved patio has a picnic table and benches, plus another small table and 2 chairs - also available is a portable bbq and some assorted sunbeds/chairs. We have private parking directly adjacent to the chalet's front door, and a direct staircase down to the heated communal garage where we have our own reserved space. Our rates include the laundry (1 bath towel per person per week, bedding & some kitchen linen,) final cleaning, and the local Verbier per person, per night tourist tax* - nothing more to pay. We ask you to make up your beds when you arrive - it is not always certain, until you see the layout, which you will wish to make use of at night. *SEE BELOW NOTE: we do not accept all-male groups, and the principal renter must be over 25.)More

About the neighbourhood
For skiers and mountain walkers, our situation so close - 120ms - to the main lifts is an excellent feature, such that sometimes we return for lunch, then go skiing again in the afternoon, and shopping and restaurants are within easy walking distance. When loaded with shopping, the free town buses are handy to come back up to the apartment.
Getting around
With the tourist tax included with your rent, much activity is free, but if you have a car, then touring to Italy (e.g. Aosta - a historic Roman walled town) and France (e.g. Chamonix and Mt Blanc) are easy scenic days out.
