Chalet -
2 Bedrooms , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 4
Taunton, Somerset, England
New in 2011, The Woodcroft is a well appointed modern chalet on one floor with an open plan kitchen, diner and sitting area. Through the french windows is a decking area with amazing views over the surrounding countryside. There is plenty of parking and lots of open space to walk around in. A couple of minutes walk from the property is the canal and here you can walk, cycle,or boat to either Taunton or Bridgwater. There are some lovely villages with great pubs and a farm nearby where you can buy some local Somerset Cider. Lyme Regis, Wookey Hole, Clarks Shopping Village, Glastonbury, Minehead and The Quantocks are all within easy reach by car. The local wildlife on the Levels including Herons and Cranes is legendary.

Perfect for a country holiday. Only one personal problem. As two elderly ladies who do not cycle or walk long distances, it was a little out of the way for us. But this in no way reflects on the excellent accommodation or location. One very...More

Had a lovely stay at The Woodcroft. Very well equipt, very clean and a good base for us to explore the surrounding area. The garden is really lovely; the children enjoyed playing out there when the weather was kind to us! The canal walk is...More

About the neighbourhood
The Woodcroft is situated on the edge of the Somerset Levels. Here you can enjoy a wealth of wildlife such as the Cranes recently introduced back into this country and Herons. The Taunton and Bridgwater Canal is a 2 minute walk from the property where you can walk or cycle or visit the tearooms and take a boat trip. The very picturesque village of North Curry is only 5 minutes in the car with a great shop and post office and lovely old pub. The Newt Beer Festival is held every year in the nearby village of North Newton in the grounds of Maunsel House as seen on T.V. Somerset carnivals are unique and a must in the Autumn, with Bridgwater being the largest lit procession in the world. Quite spectacular!
Getting around
We do have a bus stop about 50 yards on the other side of the road, but most of our guests bring a car. The Taunton to Bridgwater canal is a 2 minute walk and includes a cycle path, so great if you want to bring your bikes. The train station is in Taunton which is about 6 miles away. We can provide transport to and from if you wish.
