Being a truly working-class district of Lisbon, Arroios is the ideal place to find a sample of authentic Portuguese life. Head to the Market mercado de Arroios where you can browse and buy fresh fish, flowers and fruit from a traditional working market. Alternatively, head to the Viuva Lamego Factory, with its beautiful hand-painted coloured tile facade, dating back to 1849. When it comes to finding the perfect place to enjoy a meal out, Arroios will not disappoint. For truly traditional Portuguese food, try Cerqueira, where there isn’t much room but the friendliness of the staff at this family-run restaurant means you’ll have an unforgettable time. Be sure to try to octopus rice. Royale Restaurante is good for vegetarian options and the excellent Há Tapas no Mercado is one of the best Portuguese tapas restaurants in Lisbon, located close to the Arroios Metro station. For a drink in the evening, head to Vlada Lounge for a sophisticated cocktail in pleasant surroundings. If you’re a beer lover, then Portugália Cervejaria is a great beer hall that was opened as an annex to a local brewery in 1925. Finally, for a late-night tipple, the Metropolis Club serves reasonably priced drinks until the early hours and usually has a DJ playing alternative music. ##Transit Areeiro tube station on the Green line is the closest station 5 min walk away. It is your direct access to downtown Lisbon. The Citymapper app is highly recommended for help getting around! Alternatively, city taxis and Uber and other such car hiring apps are easy to find. ##Notes The flat capacity is for 8 people. No additional guests allowed. Electricity: It is fairly common in Lisbon for the electricity to trip if more than two high wattage electrical appliances are being used at the same time. Please keep this in mind when using appliances like heaters, washing machines, hairdryers, kettles, toasters, fans, etc. Guests will be charged €40 if the electricity trips due to overuse. Check-in and keys: please note there will be a €25 fee for check-ins before 8 am and after 10 pm, and guests will be charged €40 for lost keys or lockouts. Please note the water heater has limited capacity. Once the hot water runs out, it will take some time for the water to warm up. Please be eco-friendly and turn off all the lights and electrical appliances (such as heaters and fans) when you leave the apartment.
