Bury St Edmunds recently named 'the best place to live in the East of England'. Superbly located in the heart of the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds, this spacious apartment, in a modern building, has one bedroom with a comfortable king size bed and ample built-in storage, a large sitting room, a kitchen/dining room and a completely re-fitted bathroom. It has a private front door (no communal area) up a short flight of three steps and the benefit of a parking space right outside the door. Please note that many properties advertising themselves as being in Bury St Edmunds are, in reality, some distance from the town but this apartment is the real deal and everything this exceptionally attractive and historic town has to offer is right on your doorstep! There is a futon-style sofa bed in the sitting room to accommodate up to two extra guests, complete with all necessary bedding, at an additional charge. This may require a little re-organisation of the furniture, and wouldn't work on a long term basis but fine for two or three nights. The town centre location means that all the historic highlights of this fine, medieval market town are a matter of moments from the apartment, including the stunning floral displays in the Abbey Gardens. Close by also are the Arc shopping centre, and the exceptional newly-built entertainment venue, the Apex, which attracts world class performers who appreciate its excellent acoustics There is also the noted Theatre Royal, a rare Georgian playhouse, owned by the National Trust, popular with visiting theatre companies and local productions alike. And then there are the many excellent restaurants, shops and bars and the historic Greene King brewery where the tours include spectacular panoramic views of views of the town and beyond from the top of the brew house as well as the chance to taste the iconic and lesser known ales. Bury St Edmunds is situated in the heart of East Anglia and it is therefore the ideal place from which to explore the many delights of Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, including a number of National Trust properties such as the handsome, palladian Ickworth House and the Tudor splendour of Melford Hall. Newmarket, world headquarters of horse racing, with its world famous racecourse is just 20 minutes' drive. Coffee, tea and biscuits awaits your arrival. Please bear in mind when considering booking this property that it is a ground-floor apartment in a building comprising two apartments in total and is not a detached house. If you have any problems with climbing into and out of a standard height bath, unfortunately the property won't be suitable for you because the shower is over the bath. It may be possible to bring a small well-behaved dog with you (at an additional cost) - please ask. More
