A picture-perfect house situated in the heart of a busy little city – the smallest in England. Dating from the 15th Century, this Grade II listed house lies within the Liberty of the Cathedral which it overlooks and has recently been refurbished to create a modern and very comfortable holiday home. The famous West Front of the Cathedral provides a backdrop to this two storey terraced property, from where everything the city has to offer is within easy walking distance. The 13th Century Cathedral, with 300 statues on the spectacular West Front, is the jewel of the city but there are many other visitor attractions including the nearby 14th Century moated Bishop's Palace and the Vicars Close – said to be the oldest continually inhabited street in Europe. However, the modern world is here too, including a bustling twice weekly farmers' market selling a wide variety of local produce. If you don't want to cook, there are also plenty of cafes and restaurants in the town's pretty streets. This holiday at a glance Sleeps four guests. Two bedrooms. Two bathrooms, one of which is en-suite. Enclosed pretty front garden overlooking the Cathedral Green with lawn, shrubs and seating area. Designated parking for one medium-sized car. WiFi. Small baby in own moses basket welcome. Children over 11 years are welcome. Sorry, no pets. Minimum stay two nights. Additional features Fabulous location, central to all Wells has to offer. Well equipped kitchen with granite worktops, induction hob, electric oven and fridge/freezer. Microwave, dishwasher and washing machine/dryer. Televisions in all main rooms. Attractions and amenities Explore the streets of Wells with a self-guided Murder Mystery themed walking Treasure Trail; a fun and imaginative way to explore Wells. Wells boasts a busy calendar of festivals and concerts throughout the year. Of particular note are the Literary Festival, Wells Carnival and the nearby Bath & West Show. The heritage city of Bath is north of the property and can be easily reached. There is plenty to do in Bath with an array of shopping outlets, boutiques, cafes and restaurants as well as famous sites such as The Roman Baths, Pump Rooms, Thermae Spa and the Royal Crescent. Enjoy a day out at the stunning Bishop's Palace in Wells or Nunney Castle belonging to the English Heritage or visit the beautiful landscaped National Trust gardens of Prior Park. Take a trip to the caves of Wookey Hole or Cheddar Gorge a must for any visit to Somerset. Within a short driving distance, other places to explore include Glastonbury Abbey whilst the Mendip Hills and Somerset Levels offer a wonderful range of walking opportunities. A little further afield is the Fleet Air Arm Museum in Yeovilton and Haynes Motor Museum in Sparkford as well as Clarks Outlet Shopping Village, approximately a fifteen minute drive away in Street.
