It's not the ancient cottage property which guests of our previous holiday let 'Avalon Cottage' had become used to but it is much more comfortable and convenient and let's face it, in a town centre property parking is really essential for most people so it's a big plus to have plenty of car space. This is a home in a quiet neighbourhood and not suitable for parties and events, no hen or stag nights. We have a 'no shoes indoors' policy because we have cream coloured carpets upstairs, bring slippers. Please don't be noisy after 11pm, the neighbours are getting up early to go to work.

We always enjoy our stay at Heart of Avalon. The property is spacious and well-equipped, and Barbara the proprietor progressively adds new and interesting features to the place. It is on the edge of the town, but within easy walking distance – 5 to 10 minutes gets you to Market Square. Barbara lives a few doors along, but is totally unobtrusive – happy to be friendly, but doesn’t interfere or intrude. Booking directly with Barbara ensures that we always get a great deal. We spent another excellent week here, and look forward to returning in 2025.

We're back again!
We’re back again! We always like coming to Heart of Avalon. It’s a lovely well-equipped house on the edge of the town (just a few minutes’ walk to the centre), in a very quiet cul-de-sac. One new, and very welcome, feature was the little summer house in the garden – ideal for sitting out with drinks. It would also have been great for protection from wind and rain, although we had perfect sunny weather throughout our stay.
When booking, it is a good idea to contact Barbara direct. Phone number and relevant details can easily be found online, and she can advise on the best deal. She is extremely friendly and helpful.

Heart of Avalon Glastonbury
I recommend this home from home holiday accommodation.. It's very easy to find great for exploring area. Well equipped with everything you need, spotlessly clean and very warm and cosy. Luckily as we went between storms Ciara and Dennis.

Avalon Cottage reincarnates!
Having stayed twice at Avalon Cottage, we were sorry to hear that it had been sold, and wondered whether its reincarnation as Heart of Avalon would live up to expectation. We were delighted to find that it did. It’s a modern home, so doesn’t have Avalon Cottage’s history behind it, but it’s much brighter and more spacious, and is fitted out with everything one would want. The garden has much more space than the courtyard at the cottage, and much easier parking facilities.
Barbara, the owner, lives just a few doors along – useful for the occasional query, but she respected our privacy and didn’t check up on us! For best prices, it’s best to contact the owner direct, rather than go through online agencies: check out “Glorious Glastonbury Holiday Homes” on Google.
It’s a short walk to Market Square, mainly on the flat. The nearest shop is Proper Job, which looks like a DIY outlet, but sells all sorts of things, such as greetings cards, paper napkins, and stationery. It’s well worth a look.
All in all, we had a great week, and hope to be back in not too long.

Wunderschönes Haus in bester Lage
Wir sind vom Heart of Avalon begeistert,
liebevoll und sehr schön eingerichtet, Ggemütliche Betten und höchster Komfort.Parkplarz direkt vor der Haustür Die Lage ist zentral, Restaurants, Shops und alle Sehenswürdigkeiten mit einem kurzen Spaziergang zu erreichen.

Heart of Avalon
Heart of Avalon in the heart of Glastonbury. A wonderful stay in an amazing property. Wonderfully equipped with everything you might need. Top quality , light and airy property situated minutes from the Town centre and all amenities and attractions.I , my wife and family members shared the property for my 70th BIRTHDAY. Perfect venue with celebratory meal in the Town. Would definitely book again and recommend to all as the perfect property to enjoy Glastonbury.

Perfect place for our honeymoon
Cannot recommend this wonderful house enough. So comfortable and homely and had everything we needed for our stay. Perfectly positioned for the town and the surrounding areas and in such a quiet location. We hope to be back next year.

Wonderful modern house
In a super quiet residential area, although so close to Glastonbury Town Centre.
Lovely decor throughout, with spotlessly clean bathroom and en-suite. Beds are very comfortable, with lovely crisp clean sheets. Great place for families with the good size back garden. Will definitely stay again.

Our fourth consecutive stay with Glorious Glastonbury Holiday Homes was perfect as always
I just can’t recommend this holiday company too much.
We’ve enjoyed relaxed, comfortable accommodation in super hostess Barbara Champion’s ‘Glorious Glastonbury Holiday Homes’ for four years now: previously in Avalon Cottage and this year in the new Heart of Avalon.
We dream of visiting Glastonbury and the surrounding areas each year to relax, enjoy peace and quiet and step out of a busy and tiring world of work and bills. The places we stay in must live up to our hopes and Glorious Glastonbury has always done that for my family.
Case in point: Heart of Avalon is very roomy with plenty of storage for our belongings ( numerous changes of clothes to cope with the hilarious English weather and for the various activities and places we love to visit (sports clothing and equipment, hiking gear, party and hippy clothes for the social and spiritual side of this quirky, peaceful, dotty English town.) The property being spacious means it was quick and easy to unpack the car and get our stuff squared away so we could concentrate on the serious business of being unserious for a blissfully calm week away from it all.
Lots of new kitchen equipment had some very nice, thoughtful touches like a knife sharpener right there on the work surface. Experienced self-catering tourists will be familiar with trying to saw up bread and vegetables with spoon-blunt knives unsharpened since Disco ruled the world: not so in Heart of Avalon. And three frying pans plus a stir fryer: three! If you’ve ever had to cook breakfast for a large family - including vegetarians and vegans whose food must not mix – you’ll know that one pan at a time won’t hack it, but you don’t have to serve meals in sittings here. And if you plan a longish visit to the Tor or in the Abbey grounds or a day-long meditative stay in the Chalice Well Gardens or bird-watching the Avalon Marshes (a paradise of a nature preserve only 15 minutes away by car) how about taking a flask of tea and one of coffee? Ok, you’ll have to pop to Tesco to buy some... No need: there are two big family side thermoses right there. Saved you twenty quid there straight away, didn’t they?
It has all mod cons in excellent condition: there’s a cavernous dishwasher (freedom from that domestic chore for a whole week for me: the only fairly liquid I want to encounter is locally sold mead, thank you so very much) and washer; dryer; excellent cooker and grill - with intuitive controls even for over 50something technophobe me - and a microwave you can understand without detailed instructions or a Starfleet Commission.
They’re always scrupulously clean and comfortable, these homes. Heart of Avalon has new and very comfortable firm beds, much new kitchen equipment and fabulous and spacious powerful showers.
We met Barbara’s housekeeper this time and she’s one of those ferociously industrious and professional people that you really want working to make your home welcoming and enjoyable. But I already knew that as there has never been anything at all tawdry or second-rate about staying with Glorious Glastonbury: it’s always been spot on.
Comforting too is the mere five minute walk from this quiet, sleepy suburb to the centre of town with its weird, wonderful hippy shops, pubs, eateries and charming, soothing slight nuttiness: who wants a long commute to paradise?
Go on, give it a go and the time (always a flexible thing in laid-back, sweet old Glastonbury town), will fly by and also feel like a very comfortable, very long and relaxing stay.

Because we are so close to the town centre you will find the restaurants, pubs, supermarkets and historic sites within walking distance.

The local bus service is good or the local taxis will take you further afield to places like Stonehenge.
