Newly refurbished second-floor flat in a historic street of Winchester just 100 yards from the Cathedral. Perfectly quiet, well-appointed space which is close by all the shops, museums and restaurants. The view across to the Cathedral is stunning. College Street is part of the 18th century quarter of the City, known as Kingsgate Village. There is a ruined castle at one end, by the river; and the house where Jane Austen died is just two doors away. At the street corner is a pair of medieval gateways through the City wall, and then it's a quiet walk through Cathedral Close to the busy centre of town. The flat is on the second floor and is reached by staircase. About the neighbourhood
College Street is in the heart of Winchester's historical district, and all its buildings are of listed status. But it is a working place, not a museum, having two schools and a handful of shops. Despite being 200 yards from the shops offices and restaurants of the City, College Street is quiet and twinkling, and gives people time and space to think and to enjoy.
Getting around
All the main sites of Winchester are within 15 minutes' walking distance. The University is 12 minutes up the hill, and the railway station the same distance the other way. Open countryside starts with the water-meadows at the end of the street, and extends straight to St Catherine's Hill and 75 miles of South Downs beyond
