About the neighbourhood
Castle Hill House is perfectly situated to explore the many attractions around Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Tutbury itself has a number of pubs, restaurants and craft and antique shops within walking distance. Castle Hill House is situated next to Tutbury Castle which forms a dramatic backdrop to the house. Tutbury Castle dates back to the stone age and was first recorded in 1071. It is most famous for detaining Mary Queen of Scots on four separate occasions. The castle has a busy calendar of interesting events throughout the year. If you would like to explore further afield there are excellent road links to Peak District villages such as Ashbourne, only 15 miles away or for the more adventurous Alton Towers Theme Park is only 16 miles away. If you would like a splash of retail therapy...
How to get there
Nottingham East Midlands airport is within 30 minutes drive. Birmingham and Manchester airports are within 90 minutes drive. The nearest train station is Tutbury & Hatton station and Derby and Burton Upon Trent stations are also close by.
