Guests will have complete privacy during their stay and will be left entirely to enjoy their holiday in peace. You will receive your key via a key safe attached to the house. However, as we, the owners, often love in the adjacent Coastguards Cottage, we usually try to welcome you in person. And we are always approachable if you need help, or would like some advice about our lovely area. We love giving insider tips about secret places to explore! About the neighbourhood
No 2 Coastguards is located in a uniquely scenic setting: right on the South West Coast Path. There are stunning coastal walks aplenty, e.g.via the gorgeous coastline to the excellent Ship Inn in Noss Mayo. There are several unspoilt beaches within easy walking distance, several others a brief scenic drive away. The villages of Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers are very picturesque and offer 3 pubs as well as a tidal pub crawl! Further afield (less that 1 hours drive) there are many, pretty coastal towns (e.g. Salcombe, Dartmouth) to explore, as well as the stunning wilderness of Dartmoor. There are also several great National Trust properties Saltram House, Overbecks, Anthony, Coethele, as well as Buckland Abbey, Francis' Drake's former home.
Getting around
You need a stout pair of walking boots - walking is undoubtedly one of the best ways to explore your immediate surroundings. Another option is to bring a boat, a paddle board or a kayak - our river estuary is glorious and can be beautifully explored via waterways.
Mountain biking is also a very wonderful and popular way of getting around.
For trips further afield, you need a car.

You need a car to stay at No 2 Coastguards - unless you are one of those admirable walkers who walk the South West Coast Path and want to stay en route! :-) The cottage is at the end of a 1.5 mile long single track road with parking places, which winds itself through a scenic coastal forest. The last 0.5 miles are nor covered with tarmac, but the track can be driven in any car - although your car will get muddy! There is ample parking for two cars, off road, in front of the cottage.
