There are two local pubs in the village of Yorkley (approx 400 inhabitants), one within a 3 minute walk and the other within a 12 minute walk; both serve food. The village also has two convenience shops, a medical centre and a post-office.
The designated cycle paths in the Forest have recently been voted the best in Britain.
Local tourist attractions include Go-Ape, Puzzlewood, the international St Pierre golf course, Celtic Manor (the home of the 2011 Ryder cup), Offasdyke Walk, Clearwell Caves, the Shambles Victorian Village, the Dick Whittington Farm Park, Taurus Crafts, the Dean Heritage Centre, Symmonds Yat (seven counties and peregrins can be observed here); the Nagshead Nature Reserve and the National BIrds of Prey Centre. There is also the family cycle trail, Dean Forest railway and even llama-trekking. Families can hire cycles from www.pedalabikeaway.com and ride through the forest on designated tracks.
There is huge scope for walking, observing wildlife, canooing, cycling, mountain-biking, clay shooting, rowing, horse-riding, rock climbing, abseiling, caving, off-road driving and fishing. Pedalabikeaway supplies a variety of bikes for hire. Chepstow race course is nearby. For golfers there is the St Pierre golf course about 10 miles away and the Forest Hills golf club.
There is much much more!
