Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

The location was amazing. So. Many. Cafes. Some liveliness at night nearby but not enough to keep us up. The water was off for 2 days (not consecutive) due to water shortage. I’d recommend looking into that prior to your stay.

First off, Lucero our host was absolutely helpful in every way possible. We went on vacation at a time when CDMX was experiencing water shortages and Lucero was extremely accommodating. Luckily we only experienced shortages one day out of our entire stay!
If you're looking for the most wonderful and cozy accommodation that's straight out of a Wes Anderson film in the most hip and quaint part of CDMX, then look no further than Casa Lucero! This comfortable and cute spot is perfect for a couple looking to get away to the vibrant and eclectic Condesa neighborhood, which is situated close by to other wonderful parts of town.
We found the apartment to be just what we wanted and more, comfortable bed and more than enough space for our one week stay. There were times when we didn't even want to leave our apartment and just stay in and watch a movie! You'll find a variety of things to do around the neighborhood, such as cafes, restaurants, and a huge and lush park right around the corner if you want to take a morning stroll or a romantic walk at night.
Keep in mind that CDMX is a metropolis with many people out and about at different parts of the day, so you will hear folks walking around and chatting at night, since the apartment is right on the always charming Amsterdam Avenue.
There are some bright lights outside the apartment by the bed, but you can always close the curtains very easily. We can't wait to return, we will be coming back to Casa Lucero in the future!

Travelers to Mexico City in 2024 should be aware t...
Travelers to Mexico City in 2024 should be aware that there is currently a water shortage in the city. CDMX is a city of 22.5 million people and resources must be shared.
But visitors should also know the shortage could affect availability of water at their accommodation.
We discovered, upon arrival, that Casa Lucero has water service between certain designated hours. In the off-hours, a storage tank in the building is supposed to provide water to the units, but there were occasions when
there was none.
Lucero, the owner and host, managed to quickly come
up with a "work-around" that off set some of the
inconvenience. She is readily available by cell/text at
any time you have a question or concern.
(A word of caution about the shower: the temperature can fluctuate from very hot to cold in seconds, so take care.)
Overall, our stay at Casa Lucero was very positive.
The apartment is tastefuly decorated. It is well equipped
with everything a visitor might need. And its location in Condesa is in short walking distance to many restaurants, shops, and beautiful parks.

Perfect for a couple's get-away! We had a wonderful stay which totally meet our expectations. The neighborhood is a gem to discover by foot, with restaurants, cafes and a beautiful greenway all along Amsterdam street. Public transit is very nearby (1 block away). Parque de Mexico and Parque Espana are a very short walk away, perfect for walks at all times of day. The area is buzing with life, culture and music. The apartment was very comfortable and had all the necessary amenities. Spacious bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and a wonderful living room. Would very heavily recommend for couples! We hope to be back soon. Make sure to visit the museums (10-15 minutes away by uber) and enjoy the local foods. The host was available at all times and very supportive, making check-ins and answering any questions while offering appealing recommendations. Thank you Lucero!

Great location, clean modern bathroom, very comfortable bed. Fixtures and couch are worn but also comfortable. Easy access (first floor ), pleasant street sounds during the day but very quiet at night. Lucero is communicative and very friendly. A wonderful base to explore Mexico City

First, the positives:
- Excellent location
- Accurate description of neighborhood
- Good communication with owner
- Price was fair
Now, the negatives:
- Instead of "charming, spacious, and romantic," we found it to look “tired” and in desperate need of an update.
- There is no bedroom. The bed is in the main room, separated from the living area by a low bookshelf.
- We found the mattress to be well beyond its prime.
- The couch was downright uncomfortable, with no back support.
- Temperature of shower was difficult to adjust. Much water and time were wasted while going from too hot to too cold.
- During the day the apartment was dark because it's on a shady street and the windows are opaque. Plus, the lights were all of low wattage.
- The lighting problem was just the opposite at night, as bright lights from the building entrance flood the apartment. Heavy curtains had been installed, but one must stand on the couch and on the bed to close them. Older and less agile renters might not wish to do this.
We hesitate to leave such a negative review, given the many positive ones, but we believe that both reviewers and the owner need to be honest about what is being offered. Prospective renters deserve realistic pictures and accurate descriptions.
Again, the owner was most helpful, and the location was fabulous. But "luxury deco gem" and "an elegant art deco apartment with antiques and luxury items carefully selected to pamper you" are deceptive descriptions of Casa Lucero.

Our hostess did a good job of explaining what was available in the area but was too humble about the beauty of the adjacent parks, the peacefulness of the community and how safe it was to walk in the area, even later in the evening, and how pleasant it was on the tree lined streets. Uber is always available and relatively inexpensive...much easier than trying public transit which is also available. while free wifi is available in many place what I would recommend is getting a sim card and data for using google maps and for ordering an Uber when not at a spot with free wifi. Lots of utensil in the kitchen, unfortunately no laundry but made do with hand washing and drying in bathroom. GREAT location on a gorgeous street with many coffee shops and restaurants. Also many places for inexpensive street food which were always well used by locals. Not having been to Mexico City for 4 or 5 years I was surprised at the cost of restaurants and coffee shops--- just like back in British Columbia. There are an amazing number of things to see in Mexico City, the Castle is a 20 minute walk away and their amazing museum a short distance from there. Museums, art galleries and historical buildings are everywhere downtown. I forgot, the apartment... amazing for the price. Relatively quiet, certainly enough room, very clean and well decorated. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Would have like a balcony but... Lastly, I always felt safe in the Condesa area, even when lost.

My wife and I spent the most wonderful week at Casa Lucero. There are times you don't know if you are in CDMX or Paris. The apartment is so well decorated and very comfortable. The area can not be beat, right on Avenida Amsterdam, but still extremely quiet which was a surprise we expected more road noise but very little. Lucero is a delight to work with, very communicative, checked in with us every few days. We got in a bit early actually and if you are willing to go pick up the keys, you can get self entry. It was so easy to do with Uber, our driver waited a few minutes, we got the keys, and into the apartment a mere few blocks away. We will be back for sure.

The apartment is in a great location in the Condesa, steps away from restaurants and coffee and in walking distance of many sights. The owner, Lucero is incredibly responsive and helpful and checked in frequently to make sure everything was ok. It is an incredible bargain. The only downside is that it could get a little noisy at night as it is on the first floor and faces the street.
