There are 2 king size beds, and 2 twin beds (can be king, please ask). Also included in the rental are wifi, satellite TV, DVD player, drinking water, well-equipped kitchen, linens and daily maid service.
This house is situated on a main street making it convenient for taxi service, and easy and safe walking just right outside the door. On many evenings, the famous estudiantinas walk past the house on their callejoneadas filling the house with robust songs and music – an experience that never fails to draw you out onto the balcony to wave at the parade of joyous followers.
We sometimes call the house La Casa de la Risa – the funhouse, because it's a place with it's own amusement – both inside and out. We hope our renters come with a sense of curiosity and humor as Guanajuato (and Mexico) has a different kind of spontaneous and often humorous atmosphere. The house is perfect for artistically minded people who want to experience the vibrancy of Guanajuato, yet still have space and tranquility at the end of the day.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
* True to typical Guanajuato architecture, this is a three-story house with the main living areas on the 2nd and 3rd levels. The stairways are made of stone and plenty wide, with a fairly low rise and railings, however people who have limited mobility may be challenged with so many steps.
** No pets and no smoking in the house.

This home is fantastic! It is in the perfect location in Guanajuato, is comfortable for a family of six, and is filled with wonderful art and color and whimsy! Every day we noticed something new. The spaces are generous, with a large living room, dining room, an eat-in and very well equipped kitchen, charming outdoor terraces filled with plants, including the roof terrace where we could watch the fireworks for New Year’s Eve.... I could go on and on. And on the practical side, the beds are super-comfortable, there is plenty of hot water, and the market is just steps away. Everything is within walking distance and the house manager, Lorena, was a delight. We wish we had planned to stay longer!

What a great house in a perfect location to see Guanajuato
Went to Guanajuato for the first time this March over Spring break. Found the house to be perfectly located close to all of the historical downtown stuff to see and do. The house was well equipped, and a comfortable place to relax in. Lorena the house administrator and Mima the housekeeper were very friendly and professional. I just loved the town......people friendly, lots of things to do, and as a bonus got a work out every time I walked out the door climbing the hilly streets! Absolutely would recommend the town and this house to anyone looking for an off the beaten path cool place to explore!

Inspirational space, well-suited to personal and business travel
Lovely home with every amenity you could need and more. Fantastic location in the historic city adjacent to a number of museums and galleries yet located on the side of town that getting the the airport and business travel to León was a breeze.

Wish I lived in this magical fun-house year round!
Casa de la Risa is a fitting name for this wonderful, elegant, colorful, spacious, folk-art-filled home on 3 levels (4 with the rooftop). We knew we would be staying in Guanajuato for 3 nights in March, and wished we had planned a week. Even though there were only 3 of us, and this house would be a fabulous stay for 6, we booked it because it was soooo beautiful and heads above every other rental on the sites.
Guanajuato is a thriving Mexican university city, with so many delights, and we squeezed in as much as we could in our three days, but truly wished we had given ourselves 5-7 nights. We had previously spent 6 nights in San Miguel de Allende, and this town is quite different, and worth giving it more time. And the museums are world-class.
But we got to return home each night to the Casa de la Risa, where each room was a museum-like experience of discovery and delight. Blasts of color, crazy tiles, keepsakes, and paper mache folk monsters fill each room. The bedrooms are elegant and grand, exquisitely decorated, the living room is really two giant rooms, and thankfully the tall shutters do shut out the sounds of a Mexican city.
We were lucky to have the living room shutters open one night when a private callejoneada - folk musicians in velvet and white stockings - was making its way along Calle Galarza below before heading up into the cobble-stoned alleys. We jumped into our shoes and ran down to join them and the night had only begun!
Ethan and Anne Marie were wonderful hosts, very civically-engaged, with great background on living in Guanajuato and in Mexico. The home they created is over-the-top in all the right ways! Care and artfulness dictate each design choice, and the home is very well maintained. There is strong wifi in each room, and the kitchen is a welcoming space. We never used the big dining room, but we made plans to bring friends for a future visit. Their staff of two sisters who clean the house are charming, though we didn’t make much of a mess in the chef’s kitchen, because there were so many great restaurants right out the door. One restaurant we enjoyed twice down on Calle Galarza is Mestizo, a sumptuous dining experience in a modest, folksy series of upstairs rooms.
Casa de la Risa is a beautiful home filled with quirky and fun art, in a warm city filled with the same! We hope to return.

Amazing
Spacious , comfortable , decorated in startling colors and tribal art. It is a one of a find place. Full kitchen, large comfortable bedrooms. Location is outstanding. Next door to the Mexican equivalent of independence hall. Easy to catch a taxi right outside the front door. Very short walk to the very best restaurant in Guanajuato (Mephesto)
There are two downsides: crazy priests who set off artillery at 6am on a Saturday morning and others times, and a puppy breeding operation next door. So bring some ear plugs for sleeping.
There were four of us who stayed for four days, and I would stay there again.

Beautiful House with a great location
Spent the last weekend of Cervantino staying in this fabulous place. Very comfortable and spacious. The views from the roof patio area are fantastic, especially at sunset. The roof is also a nice space to gather or unwind in. Maid service was punctual and impeccable . I hope to return again. It's a very special place.

Fabulous house in Guanajuato!
Seven of us stayed very comfortably in this large beautiful old house in the center of Guanajuato. It has a beautiful upstairs courtyard and roof top overlooking the town. The house is well maintained and painted in the bright colors of the region with wonderful Mexican tile work and eclectic artifacts. Very comfortable and highly recommended. The owners, Anne Marie and Ethan were delightful and welcoming. A true find!
