Holiday Rental House
Walnut Tree Cottage is on the edge of a small hamlet surrounded by beautiful countryside. We fell in love with the cottage on sight and hope you will too. The house is spacious: it is a real home not a holiday gite. We are back renting for holidays after some time of letting long term hence the gap in reviews. It is comfortably furnished and sleeps up to five plus a baby travel cot in two bedrooms. The sitting room retains many original features such as the traditional Charentaise fireplace, beams and oak floor. The old 'sejour' is a kitchen/diner with dining table and lounge seating around the wood burning stove. The ensuite (bath and loo) master bedroom has a double bed whilst the other has twin beds with plenty of space for the foldaway bed and cot. A newly refurbished shower room with loo is adjacent. Each bedroom has a mirror and a hair-dryer. There 3 steps plus a door down to the bedrooms which separates them from the living area but does make access for wheelchair users or the infirm difficult. Additionally, some of the floors are uneven due to the age of the property. Outside, to the rear, there is, we think, a beautiful terrace, perfect for eating alfresco or simply for enjoying the odd glass of wine or two! We now have a circular Intex - or similar - above ground pool, absolutely brilliant for cooling off after fantastic sightseeing as well as on sunny summer days. Beyond is a lawn with plenty of room for kicking a football; there are also fruit and nut trees which you are able to enjoy in season. The garden is enclosed on three sides, the fourth having a gap for off lane parking for two cars. The garden enjoys both sun and shade. The cottage is ideal for a memorable family holiday or for couples wanting a romantic break. The area has many attractions, just ask us for details and recommendations. Other than comments on Trip Advisor, comments made by email include 'Thank you so much Helen, your cottage was wonderful, we enjoyed our stay tremendously'; 'Just a very quick message to thank you for the hire of your home in France. It was exactly what we wanted and needed. The location (as we had hoped) ensured we could do little but relax, read, barbecue, drink wine and slump in the sunshine - the pool was an unexpected and welcome extra. We came away with a heavy heart but with batteries fully charged to face England and the world of work.'; 'We were stunned by the size of the garden and it was lovely to have shade and sunshine' and 'Your home is lovely and we felt like we had the most relaxing holiday for a few years'. We truly hope that you have a fantastic stay at our cottage but above all: enjoy!More

Interaction with guests
The cottage and garden are for your sole use. Our caretaker may call by to cut the grass or help you with anything unforeseen but he won't intrude on your holiday - he is a lovely man. We do ask that you respect the French way and strip the beds and clean the fridge on vacation. This not only keeps our changeover lady happy but helps us to keep the rental to a minimum. This isn't a business but our home which we welcome you to. The key will be left in a designated place and we ask that you leave it in the same place when you leave. Our neighbours are wonderful but won't normally approach you unless you make the first move: they respect that this is your holiday to spend as you wish.

It is a thriving artisan village with many crafts and foods on offer. It has a fascina...
