Highlands Cottage is tucked away in an apple orchard with fantastic views across the hills of the Wye Valley. You can sit outside on the South facing patio and soak in the fresh air and peaceful countryside. Highlands Cottage is a detached, stone built converted stable with lots of rural charm. It is tastefully converted with a double bedroom, sitting and dining room, fully equipped kitchen and walk in wet room. Free wifi. There is parking for two cars beside the cottage. From the door you can enjoy numerous forest and riverside walks and it is a short drive to the lovely town of Monmouth, numerous local attractions, golf courses, canoe hire and the Forest of Dean. We are surrounded by woodland and a short walk to the River Wye. The cottage has a double bed and bunks. The kitchen is fully equipped with hob, oven, fridge freezer, microwave and plenty of crockery and cooking equipment. The dining area seats four, and is also a lap-top friendly space (with fast, free wifi). The sitting area has two double sofas, TV, DVD player and coffee table. Tranquil cottage in a stunning location

We had a wonderful time at Highlands, going for beautiful walks in the surrounding countryside and enjoying the fabulous location. The cottage was warm and cosy, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

About the neighbourhood
We are 15 minutes from from the charming market town of Monmouth, with lovely independent shops and restaurants. There is a village shop at half an hour's beautiful walk through the woods. We are surrounded by miles and miles of wonderful walking country. Host Louise is a keen walker and can advise on numerous walks, taking in forests, the River Wye, pubs and historic sites. There are numerous visitor attractions a short drive from Highlands Cottage, including: canoeing on the River Wye, graded mountain bike tracks, 6 castles, Tintern Abbey, Puzzlewood ancient forest, golf courses, Go Ape, The Forest of Dean, Dean Forest steam railway. At an hour's drive you can access Cardiff and The Brecon Beacon mountains.
Getting around
A car is pretty much essential, although we are close to a bus stop serving Monmouth and Chepstow.
