Hidden Inn Shimogamo is a beautifully decorated modern and luxurious boutique townhouse located in the beautiful and green North East part of Kyoto city center. The house provides easy access to Gion and the city center via train and is just 3 minutes walk from the nearest station. This is a two storey house with two bedrooms which can accomodate up to 6 persons. Guest just need to pop in their clothes before bed or when heading out to explore and no further intervention is required. The clothes will be washed, dried and ready to wear a few hours later. The fully equipped kitchen means you can eat in whenever you like. No need to go out to a restaurant for every meal. The kitchen includes electric cooktop, refrigerator, microwave, rice cooker, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster and all the miscellaneous items (pots, pans, utensils, spices, oil etc) needed to make a lovely meal. The Western-size sofa in the living room is a nice place to relax and/or watch TV. It can also be used as a bed for an additional guest if required. Entertainment includes a flatscreen TV, Amazon FireStick and Netflix. We don’t expect you will spend much time in front of the TV but its good to have this option (especially for the kids) if a typhoon suddenly arrives. Several guidebooks are made available for guest use including Lonely Planet Japan and Lonely Planet Kyoto books. No need to bring these heavy items from home. This townhouse in Kyoto was perfect for our stay. A little outside of the city center tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Easy access to transportation, restaurants and all the sites in Kyoto. Highly recommended!! The bikes were awesome!!

About the neighbourhood
I love the NE and NW areas of Kyoto as there are many interesting sights to see and there a lot of nature to enjoy. The NE has a little more to offer and is more easily accessible due to the Keihan and Eizan train lines. Some of my favorite places in the city like Shisen-do Gardens, Shugakuin Imperial Villa, The path of philosopy, Ginkakuji, Manshuin Temple Shimogamo Shrine, the Imperial Palace gardens and Takaragaike gardens can all be easily accessed from this house.
Getting around
TRAIN Luckily the NorthEast part of Kyoto is well serviced by bus and train. The Keihan and Eizan lines provide access to downtown/Gion area as well as many interesting spots that we love but which may not be on the typical tourist's itinerary. The house is 3 minutes walk from Moto Tanaka station on the Eizan line. TAXI Taxi's are cheap and plentiful in Kyoto and easy to get just about anywhere. Just walk 2min from the house to Mikage street and you won't have to wait long. BIKE This house comes with two bikes included free of charge to guests.
