The region offers wine lovers almost limitless opportunities to indulge their passion. In fact the Chateau is ideally positioned to explore the region's best wineries and chateaux. Ancient Aquitaine - which is the wider area encompassing Bordeaux - is also known for its bastide towns, fortified castles, Renaissance gardens, prehistoric caves and miriad of rivers whose clear waters are ideal for canoeing, kayaking, fishing and picnics along their banks. Nearby Bordeaux famed for its stunning architecture and abundance of bars, shops and restaurants, namely within the Saint-Pierre district and along the entirely pedestrian rue Sainte-Catherine. To the west, the sandy beaches of the Bassin d’Arcachon bay from Cap Ferret to the Dune at Pyla-sur-Mer provide a great day out on the coast.More
