About the neighbourhood
The cottage is 14kms from the historic town of Chateaubriant, with a beautiful chateau and of course the famous Chateaubriand steak. In the region there are nearby forests and lakes with safe man made beaches, providing swimming, watersports, cycling and walking trails. For the serious sportsperson there is a good selection of golf courses, fishing lakes and horseriding stables, as well as Ten Pin Bowling and Go Karting. For the less serious, there are a number of open air swimming pools, swin golf and crazy golf. There are also a number of horse racing tracks, offering race meetings including trotting races, throughout the summer season. There are of course, local weekly markets and many vide greniers (car boots)and fetes most weekends during the summer.
How to get there
The closest ferry port is St Malo which is less than a 2hr drive from La Teillais. Caen is 3hrs, Calais 6hrs. Flybe fly to Rennes and Nantes, just an hours drive and Ryan air fly to Dinard which is 2hrs drive, but La Teillais is very rural so a car would be a necessity.
