Holiday Rental House
Set in an idyllic rural location overlooking the village of Bonsall in Derbyshire. The cottage is set on a quiet country lane with many footpaths leading into the countryside. The nearby fields are the home to the sheep and alpacas from Spinney Farm and you may also see cows from the nearby dairy farm. As the cottage is set in a dry stone wall enclosure it's a totally safe space for children to run around, and for you to just sit and relax. Spinney Farm cottage is just down the road from the farm therefore completely private but just a 2 minute stroll if you need any help. You're more than welcome to come and meet the alpacas. Don't miss the annual 'Hen Racing' at the Barley Mow (10 min walk), held on the first Saturday in August. About the neighbourhood
The village of Bonsall has 2 pubs both serving food there is also the Fountain tea rooms which comes highly recommended. Just behind the tea rooms is the Fountain store and deli where you can order breakfast hampers and celebratory hampers for those special occasions. Bonsall is one of many local villages still upholding the tradition of well dressings which is held in the last week in July along with the annual Carnival. The open gardens is held in June and the horticultural show in September - there's always something going on! The surrounding towns and villages include many interesting places, including the cattle market in Bakewell every Monday and Matlock which holds the archives for Derbyshire the ideal place if you want to trace your ancestors. There's also Matlock Bath with it...
How to get there
From the A5012 (Cromford to Buxton Road), turn right to Bonsall. Continue up the hill, immediately at the top of the hill take a sharp left turn onto Black Tor Road and follow for approx. 0.5 miles. On arrival into the hamlet of Slaley take a very sharp right turn (black railings around the front of house on junction) and continue until the road levels out. You will pass the sign for Spinney Farm on your left continue along the road for approx. 300 yards and the cottage is on the right.
